Introduction

Sexuality and sexual health problems have always been highly sensitive issues for discussion. Taking into account their private character these questions require careful treatment by laws and public policy about the religious and cultural backgrounds of a certain society. Nevertheless, legislation is to be uninhibited in the context of people’s health care. Therefore, such preventive measures as the insurance companies’ obligation to include the pre-exposure prophylaxis drugs, preventing HIV transmission in their services is to be regarded as a preemptive move deprived of any sexual implications.

Body

First of all, public policy is only reasonable on the condition that it is respectful both to cultural traditions and scientific knowledge. While the sex problem in general lies beneath both realms, HIV prevention is mostly relevant to the science aspect. For the past decades, numerous medical researchers have been supplying society with concerning statistics. Whereas the number of people living with HIV varies, the necessity of proper prophylactic actions is evident. Taking into account the delicacy of the mentioned problem, it is easy to predict people’s reluctance to address health care centers for receiving relevant treatment. Thus, if this treatment becomes a part of the common medical insurance, it may change the entire apprehension of this ambiguous issue.

Moreover, information availability has always been among the major public requests. However, when it comes to the enlightening of the HIV matter, society’s attitude to the spread of this information is controversial. Some people do not approve of the mass media’s raising the question. Unfortunately, the fewer facts people obtain, the more myths appear around the issue. For that reason, the HIV question is commonly regarded as indecent and even provocative. It is considered that a cultivated man cannot be interested in this shameful disease; neither can he be suffering from it. Needless to say, the ignorance of the problem’s roots and its specificity leads to more cases of infection transmission. Thereupon, if an insurance company is obliged to cover the expenses for pre-exposure prophylaxis drugs, the HIV issue becomes automatically better enlightened. As soon as HIV prevention is a part of the standard health care program people will stop experiencing the relevant tension and uneasiness.

Furthermore, one of the principal rights the society is to provide a human with is the right to the free decision-making process. It means that people cannot be pressed to undergo any treatment or preventative measures unless they want to. Nevertheless, there are numerous cases when people would not turn for medical heath because of its inaccessibility and high cost. Statistics claim that the major part of the HIV risk group is represented by financially disadvantaged citizens. Hence, the company’s responsibility for the provision of HIV preventative measures seems to be a perfect solution. On the one hand, taking any PreP drugs is not legally binding; it by no means interferes with one’s private life. On the other hand, the law properly defends the rights of those people who are eager to take care of this health aspect.

Conclusion

In conclusion, one has to point out that any problem connected with sexual relationships demands particularly thoughtful treatment. Nonetheless, the questions of health care, which HIV issue certainly belongs to, should be free of any cultural or religious superstitions. The law is to defend people’s right to medical help and to provide them with all the relevant, accessible services.
