Introduction

The world was substantially different when I was a child than it is now. Today’s environment places a lot of emphasis on electronics and social media. Without people trying to educate themselves and experience things for themselves, social media appears to influence how many perceive the universe. Furthermore, because viewers believe that whatever they see on television will be true, TV shows significantly impact how individuals view the outside world. This is somewhat true since several television programs I watched as a child adequately equipped me for the modern world. TV shows like The Cosby Show, Unsolved Mysteries, and Kim Possible consciously affected how I view the world, as explained in this essay.

Discussion

The Cosby Show of 1984 featured many good family values and was tremendously funny. The program portrayed a black family’s daily existence, eradicating prejudice against African American families and highlighting the importance of strong bonds with family and friends. Before this program debuted, there was prejudice against black people because of their rudeness and lack of education. However, according to the “King James Version” (2017, John 15:12), “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” This show taught me to expect that a supportive family and friend base will be with you through the good and difficult times. These ties are crucial because family provides us with support, protection, and unconditional love, enabling people to go through the best and worst times.

I learned that the world has wicked people who commit horrible deeds via the Unsolved Mysteries tv show, which ran from 1987 to 2010. I learned from this show that I should continually be ready to defend my family and myself. The program did not make me uneasy or unduly cautious; however, it taught me that the universe is not exactly how God planned it to be during creation. According to “King James Version” (2017, John 3:16), “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” This verse shows that God wanted the world to remain sin free after letting His son die on the cross for our sins. However, as per the events in the movie, man has gone contrary to what God wanted. This show taught me to expect that some people are evil and I should be cautious with who I interact.

Kim Possible was a fascinating program I enjoyed watching while growing up. The story of Kim Possible centers on a cheerleader in high school who defends the globe from various comedic villains while maintaining a reasonably regular life. I learned from this show that persistence is crucial in pursuing your goals. The Bible also encourages people to pursue their goals, as shown in “King James Version” (2017, Proverb 21:5), “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” I also learned not to judge a book by its cover because appearance does not necessarily reflect a person’s value or quality. The Bible tells us, “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” (“King James Version,” 2017, John 7:24). Kim Possible taught me to expect that pursuing my goals and not judging individuals as per their appearance will result in a good life.

Conclusion

In conclusion, nearly every element of human social life has been impacted by television shows. The Cosby Show consciously influenced my view of the world, making me understand the value of family and the importance of not judging others. Unsolved Mysteries opened my eyes to the evilness in the world, thus reminding me constantly to be alert as I grow up. The Kim Possible show taught me not to judge others by their appearance since it does not display their values and worth. Therefore, through news programs and documentaries, TV shows serve as a source of enjoyment and learning.
