Communication and participation are also essential to one’s performance in the classroom. For example, I am ready to challenge myself to speak up and ask questions that may interest my group mates. These inquiries often tend to present new topics for discussion or different concepts mentioned during the course. Interaction with other students may positively affect my learning process as well. The encouragement that a group can provide to each member is crucial in understanding new material. To me, group participation is a way to pose questions that create further discussions and debates and allow other members to gather more information about different issues and interesting facts. Furthermore, various points of view that each student can bring also impact my comprehension and help me to improve my analytical skills and my ability to analyze new information critically. I believe that my participation supports other group members and encourages them as well.

Types of Team Training in the Workplace

Group training is an integral part of forming a successful team that works together without problems in communication or mutual understanding. In my workplace, several approaches to education exist. First of all, generic comprehensive training is provided to all new workers who may feel as though they cannot become a part of the group (Thomas, 2011). I work in acute care, where teamwork can impact patients’ health significantly. Therefore, these basic courses are necessary for all workers, including nurses who often work together to care for patients. Such comprehensive training also creates a foundation for nurses to begin interacting with each other and learning more about the establishment.

Our hospital also has some specific training activities for particular tasks. It is necessary to make sure that all employees have a full understanding of all functions of the hospital. For instance, nurses are trained to perform procedures on patients with rapidly deteriorating health or with critical conditions. Such a narrow focus allows nurses to understand the problem and learn how to deal with it in a short period. This training is usually brief and can be delivered regularly.

Finally, all nurses also participate in the “ongoing quality improvement efforts” to impact the performance of the hospital and its employees (Thomas, 2011, p. 648). This type of training is not as focused on teamwork, but it influences nurses and allows them to work together to fix any issues and benefit patients as a result. Thus, it also helps them to improve their communicational skills. For example, our recent initiatives included the improvement of care for patients with mental illnesses who come with acute problems to the hospital.
