Similarity Between the Article and the Project
The article “Does weight loss improve clinical outcomes in overweight and obese patients with heart failure?” by Tabucanon et al. deals with the way obesity contributes to the development of heart conditions, in particular heart failure, as well as how weight loss can improve heart conditions. There are several ways in which this article is similar to my project. Firstly, my project and this paper examine the link between the patient’s weight and the condition of the cardiovascular system. Secondly, both projects focus on weight loss and maintaining weight at a normal level for a better quality of life and heart health.
Contribution of Findings to EBP
Importance of Handling the Issue
There are several ways in which the article’s findings, alongside my project’s findings, can contribute to the improvement of evidence-based practice. To begin with, the findings of both papers demonstrate that handling obesity must be prioritized when dealing with heart-related conditions, particularly heart failure (Tabucanon et al., 2020). This will help professionals refine the quality of care provision by changing treatment priorities and attaining better patient health results. It is worth noting that they both aim to raise societal awareness of the importance of adopting wellness behavior.
Causes of the Issue
Another article also points out that several factors, such as urbanization, sedentary lifestyles, and demographic status, are associated with increased heart failure (Shen et al., 2021). This knowledge is essential for doctors, as they will be able to know in advance which region has an increased chance of heart failure and to prevent its development in the population.
Treatment Strategies
Both projects also present ways in which obesity can be managed and treated. The chosen article provides information on pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment, which can serve as a comprehensive guide for evidence-based practice. It also examines how certain drugs can be prescribed to address obesity, including anti-obesity drugs and medications that are not indicated to treat obesity specifically (Tabucanon et al., 2020). Overall, both projects provide information that can contribute to better practice in treating heart failure and other heart conditions.
