Qualities that Women must Possess in Order to Succeed in today’s Business World
The three main qualities women need in today’s business world are authority, attitude, and adjustment. Women find it hard to exercise authority even when the situation allows them because they are unable to embrace their roles. In addition, women are not confident of their power even when they have the ability to do something. Excellent women entrepreneurs perceive their peers as colleagues who must be led in the process of doing their duty but do not see them based on gender.
When women do not see differences in people based on sex, they are able to exercise authority, which is the main requirement in entrepreneurship. The second quality, which is attitude, is important for a woman in the business world because women with a positive attitude do not sympathize with other people and are always confident with their responsibilities. They believe they have all that is needed to excel in business and are willing to learn what they do not know. When a woman lacks a positive attitude, she is likely to be influenced by her colleagues in decision-making. Lastly, women require adjustments to accommodate new ideas in a competitive and dynamic world of business (Croson and Gneezy 448-474).
I possess the three qualities but need to strengthen them at Hult. For example, I need to know what kind of a leader I am to be confident and show authority. My lecturers will help me identify my strengths through consultations. In addition, I will learn to be a servant leader who communicates effectively as well as acquire thorough knowledge. At Hult, I will learn how to balance rest, play, and be enthusiastic to attract customers (Croson and Gneezy 448-474).
How an increase in Women Holding Managerial Positions has Affected Business Environment
In today’s business world, there is an influx of women holding managerial positions who have enhanced economic and social developments in many organizations. Women have proved that they can succeed in business and contribute to the gross domestic product, which has made the government support them through grants. The ability women have to hold managerial positions in businesses have reduced bias against them during placements that involve professional responsibilities.
Women network better with colleagues and have the ability to expand businesses within a short time. Their inherent ability to multitask helps them to hold high positions in the modern business world compared to their male counterparts. This ability helps women to collaborate with business stakeholders thus improving business performance compared to how it used to be in the past (Croson and Gneezy 448-474).
Importance of Women in Leadership Positions
When a woman becomes a leader in an organization, she is a role model for many young girls. The girls develop a sense of the reality of their own accomplishments and safety when they see women leaders in high positions. They are motivated to work hard and achieve their dreams in life because they know that they can make it like the others. When women are represented in business organizations, they facilitate the decision-making process on what is best for girls to succeed. For example, girls are encouraged to discuss their problems with women leaders in case of abuse at home. Women should therefore be considered as good candidates to learn the skills and knowledge required for high managerial positions in the modern business world (Croson and Gneezy 448-474).
