All the remarkable economic, political, and military accomplishments of the United States, as well as its ceaseless efforts to save democracy throughout the world, had a stupefying effect on the American public. In the 20th century, this was associated with Woodrow Wilson and his outstanding contribution to the development of democratic government. The below discussion reflects the position in favor of Morison’s opinion; he argued that Wilson was “a great leader because he sensed the aspirations of plain people and expressed them in phrases that rang like a great bronze bell” (886).
Certainly, people were compelled to listen to and read the compelling speeches and well-reasoned publications of the President. Millions of fellow citizens responded to Wilson’s calls and urged to join the “crusade to make the world “safe for democracy”,” due to his limitless conviction and civic pathos (The White House).
