The most significant foreign joint partnership institution in China, XJTLU, has expanded quickly. XJTLU Background, Mission Statement, and Information
XJTLU Global Background
Suzhou, Jiangsu, China, is home to the worldwide collaborative university known as XJTLU. The inaugural Sino-British collaborative effort involving research-led institutions was established in 2006 due to a collaboration between the University of Liverpool and Xi’an Jiaotong University. A partnership treaty to create XJTLU was reached on September 28, 2004, between Xi’an Jiaotong University and the University of Liverpool. The current faculty’s campus began to take shape in August 2005, and on May 29, 2006, it was formally opened (About Us, 2022). In the initial year, over 160 undergraduates joined.
One hundred and seven percent of the inaugural group of graduates at XJTLU went on to complete master’s or Ph.D. degrees abroad; ten percent attended schools that are among the top ten worldwide. Six million RMB was invested in an educational achievement study by XJTLU in December 2010. When it came to the Top 10 Sino-Foreign Joint Chinese universities by January 2011, XJTLU was at the top (About Us, 2022). On September 25, 2016, U.K. State Minister for Colleges, Science, Studies, and Invention Jo Johnson MP visited the institution and praised XJTLU as a remarkable accomplishment.
XJTLU Department of Architects was established in 2011; since then, its pupils have taken home a variety of special prizes, such as third place in the CTBUH High Building Student Design Contest. At the IDEERS Seismic Safety Design Contest in Taiwan and two times at the Chinese Artistic Education Conference, where the top creative department projects from architecture schools all around China are honored each year. Architecture students have previously received four awards each. As part of its 15th-anniversary celebrations in 2021, XJTLU opened three new institutions and made its ground-breaking continuous learning network, the XJTLU Educational Mall, accessible to the general public. Its distinctive fusion of learning theories, which empowers learners to develop global perspectives, is crucial to its achievement. At the Fourth Chinese Educational Yearly Gala in December 2011, XJTLU received the award for Most Influencing Sino-Foreign Higher Learning Institution in China.

It aims to promote creativity and inventiveness and encourage bold concepts to produce significant answers to pressing issues in the World (About Us, 2022). Its training puts learners at the forefront of all it does; its offered courses give learners a stable base in the profession’s theoretical underpinnings and involve them in entrepreneurship and business activities.
XJTLU Information
With the blessing of the Chinese Education Ministry, Xi’an Jiaotong Institution and the University of Liverpool collaborated to create XJTLU, a novel form of an international school with a separate identity and autonomous judicial identity. XJTLU is the most prominent Sino-foreign cooperation university in China at the moment. It began with administration in science and technology and worked with powerful corporations. In the Chinese People’s Republic Liverpool University in the U.K. is authorized to award undergraduate degrees.
Suzhou, China, is home to Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. This ancient city has been called heaven on earth for its idyllic setting. As it exists now, Suzhou not only upholds the historic city design and social convention of promoting education and culture but also keeps up with modern times. It is a contemporary city that is available to the world at large. Its Gross domestic product has long positioned it among the best metropolises in China, mainly owing to its world-acclaimed China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Estate, where many of the leading 500 corporations in the world congregate. In the past few years, its overall national financial value has proliferated at a yearly expansion rate of almost 15% (About Us, 2022). It delivers an unmatched social and financial ecosystem, worldwide collaborative companies, and research and advancement organizations. Additionally, it offers a significant growth area for the long-term growth of the nearby Xi’an Jiao Tong-Liverpool University; it hires graduates both domestically and overseas.
Graduates of XJTLU continue their education or find employment abroad. More than 86% of the graduating class of 2020 decided to continue their education abroad. 38.10% enrolled in one of the ten leading universities worldwide, and 80.36% enrolled in one of the 100 best higher education institutions (About Us, 2022). Seven pupils received scholarships to Oxford University, Manchester University, and West Lake University, a letter of immediate doctorate acceptance from a reputable university. In 2020, about 28% of college graduates chose direct jobs labor for renowned national and international corporations, including the Big Four accounting firms, the world, and China’s leading 500.
Leadership Team Profiles
XJTLU Chairman is Professor Zheng Qinghua, and the Vice Chairman- is Professor Janet Beale. Qinghua is a specialist in machine intelligence; he has actively participated in Chinese Institute of Technology programs, including the Information Engineering Research and Technology Unit. He is actively involved in training and scholarly studies in extensive data expert systems (University Leadership, 2022). Beer is presently the head of the School of Liverpool. She completed her education at Yale University and the University of Reading in the U.K. She is a top researcher in 19th- and 20th-century American literature (University Leadership, 2022). She serves as the director of the U.K. Higher Education Public Information Advisory Committee and a participant on the UCAS Management board.
Council Members
The council members include Professor Tao Wenquan, Professor Hong Jun, Professor Gavin Brown, Ms. Xu Qun, and Ms. Nicola Davies. Wenquan trained at the Xi’an Jiaotong University’s Faculty of Power Equipment from 1957 to 1962, and he finished his graduate work there from 1962 to 1966. Since 1986, he has taught at Xi’an Jiaotong Higher Education Institution; since 1990, he has served as a doctorate advisor (University Leadership, 2022). He has held positions as a visiting lecturer at the Hong Kong Polytechnic, a visiting researcher at the University of Minnesota, and a visiting instructor at Kyushu University in Japan.
Jun is currently serving as Associate President of Xi’an Jiaotong Higher Education institution and a member of the Central Committee of the Governing Board. He is primarily in charge of managing autonomous legal person research institutes, building innovation ports, managing operational assets, and carrying out the specific tasks assigned to the government and the party. Brown began serving as Vice-Chancellor for Education at the University of Liverpool around 2015. Along with helping the director establish the educational agenda, he is also charged with delivering effective leadership and advancing the enhancement of learning and teaching for teachers and learners.
Qun was named as vice chairman of Xi’an Jiaotong University Investments in 2010. Qun graduated from Xi’an Jiaotong Higher Education Institution with a junior college accounting degree in 1988 and from Xiamen Institute with a bachelor’s in accounts in 1993. Davies has served as the Higher education institution of Liverpool’s financial officer since October 2017. She served as the Deputy Director of Financial Services at the Manchester University before enrolling at the University of Liverpool (University Leadership, 2022). She has spent the last five years concentrating on administrative reform initiatives, leading two financing reorganizations, and creating and implementing new scheduling and reporting procedures.
The executive team members are Professor Xi Youmin, Yimin Ding, M.D., and Professor Chao Qiuling. Youmin earned his bachelor’s physics degree from the Shaanxi University of Engineering in 1982 and his master’s degree in system design from Xi’an Jiaotong Higher Education Institution in 1984. He got his Ph.D. in management engineering from China’s Technical University in 1987 (University Leadership, 2022). Ding was named the executive vice chancellor of Xi’an Jiao Tong-Liverpool Institute around August 2010. In the areas of accounting, human capital, telecommunications, commerce, marketing, project planning, and company management, he has approximately 20 years of superior industry experience. Qiuling is a professor and the doctorate director at the Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University of Management and Learning Frontiers. She is also the secretary of the governing board and the university’s vice president. She is a faculty and doctorate advisor at Xi’an Jiaotong University’s School of Public Affairs and Administration.
