Introduction

I am writing this letter to address why I declined your offer to be part of the organization. I appreciate your kindness and consideration in inviting me to join the team. I understand the importance of being part of the organization and supporting the community in their rights and privileges in society. However, my views about abortion oppose the organization’s aims to support abortion. Thus, this letter expresses my reason for declining the offer based on my Christian beliefs, morality, and the health effects of abortion.

Health Effects of Abortion

I believe that abortion has significant health complications and risks to individual life. To begin with, abortion can lead to excessive blood loss brought out during the process and, in turn, can cause the death of an individual (Hendricks, 457). Apart from losing one life, one may develop chronic health illnesses such as anemic disorder and blood-related infections, causing financial and emotional effects to the family and the victim. For instance, they can spend a lot of financial resources on treatments that strain economic resources. Likewise, spending time on treatment can be emotionally exhausting and can have detrimental health effects such as depression. Conversely, through abortion, the mother can develop uterine infections such as endometritis. Endometritis affects the uterine wall and genital tract, which affects one’s reproductive system, making them develop infertility, which is a long-term health effect.

I believe that abortion can cause death for the mother and the unborn child, which denies them the right to life. Loss of life can occur during surgical abortion procedures due to incomplete abortion, leading to fatal complications. In this process, there may be a loss of life and the development of more health complications and psychological torture to the mother that tend to affect one throughout her life (Hendricks, 459-460). Considering the effects of abortion, such as excessive bleeding, infection, and perforation of the uterus, surgical abortion procedures due to incomplete abortion or even death abortion can be fatal to life and one’s health. Therefore, I am opposed to joining your organization in support of abortion.

Biblical Considerations

As a Christian, I feel that abortion is morally wrong and against biblical views of life. I grew up in a Christian family with solid biblical views, such as the sanctity of life. All life is sacred and valuable before God, and abortion may be wrong since it involves eliminating a life. From the Christian teachings that I was taught, human life begins when a sperm fertilizes an egg in the uterus, and I believe one should follow God’s fifth commandment that says you shall not murder. The lives include both the mothers and the unborn child. According to the bible, an unborn child is recognized by God, and their life is valuable. At the same time, Christianity states that every person was created according to God’s image and likeness. A person’s life is a precious gift from God, and it is only God who is the giver of life and it is only God who can take it away.

No human is allowed to end anybody’s life whatsoever. Hence the act of carrying out abortion implies the life of a human. The book of Jeremiah states “Before I formed you in your mother’s womb I knew you before you were born, I set you apart” (Jeremiah 1: 5). Therefore, God forbids man to take another person’s life in their own hands and respect the value of life that He has given upon us. From my Christian beliefs, abortion is sinful and does not align with the Christian doctrine. Thus, I am opposed to joining an organization that supports abortion.

Ethical Considerations

From my ethical point of view, I feel that abortion is immoral and promotes other disagreeable vices such as sexual promiscuity. The majority of the people who abort tend to have insufficient reasons for why they do abortions. Most people blame abortions on unwanted pregnancies, which may disrupt their lives, such as education and pursuing their careers. Although everyone has the liberty to decide their life course, agreeing to abortion is unethical and promotes other vices such as sexual carelessness and promiscuity. I believe one needs to be responsible for the actions one takes and be ready to face the consequences. Hence if one chooses to engage in unprotected sex, one should be aware of the repercussions that may come of it. Thus, I am opposed to supporting the practice in the community and decline the offer to join your organization.

Conclusion

Ultimately, my ethical beliefs and Christian values are opposed to abortion which has led to declining the offer to join your organization. Although it is a move to support the community, I feel like the practice has many health risks and complications leading to jeopardizing life. It can lead to loss of life due to excessive blood loss and other complications during surgical processes. At the same time, the procedure can cause infertility due to complications such as getting rid of the uterus and uterus infections like endometriosis, which causes health problems and possible infertility. Ethically, abortion is immoral as it denies an individual the right to life. Likewise, the bible warns against murder, and alienating a child can be considered killing a life. In my view, women should consider other better options if they get pregnant or end up with unwanted pregnancies. Instead of abortion, appropriate measures such as adopting a child or taking the child to foster can be considered where the child can be taken care of better than having an abortion that, in the end, leads to more unwanted outcomes like loss of life, emotional distress and long- term health effects. I believe that my reasons will be persuasive enough for you to accept my humble apology and decline the invitation.
