Along with the development of technology, the whole world is gradually changing because technology dramatically affects our daily lives. Among their spheres of influence is academic writing, which technological advances have transformed. The changes are expressed positively: for example, access to sources, the speed and convenience of publishing, and the availability of many prompts. The negative impact is expressed in the transformation of language into a more straightforward and more mediated language, a decline in interest in writing in general. A study of the impact of technology on academic writing will determine the potential future development of different types of academic writing.

Positive Impact
Han, Yangxi et al. “How Technology Tools Impact Writing Performance, Lexical Complexity, and Perceived Self-Regulated Learning Strategies in EFL Academic Writing: A Comparative Study.” Frontiers in Psychology, vol. 12, 2021.
The study “How Technology Tools Impact Writing…” by Han et al. (1) discusses perspectives on using online technology in academic writing in the context of dissertation preparation. The authors examined the impact of online academic support platforms, the usefulness of writing revision and revision apps, and online feedback systems. The authors found a positive correlation between these technologies and English language writing outcomes. Specifically, they found a positive correlation between students’ self-awareness and healthy self-esteem, and many interviewees responded that they would not have understood their limitations without the online system (Han et al. 8-9). The most crucial point is that students were psychologically predisposed to online platforms because they felt comfortable with the systems. From the study results, it can be concluded that technology plays a positive role in the development of academic writing.
This paper was chosen for the study because it provides the results of linking three important categories at once: the perception of technology, its impact, and academic writing. It is a good choice for the study because the paper allows us to trace how specific technologies related to educational activities affect writing. The paper also considers the main parameters: lexical complexity and grammar, which shape the style of academic writing (Han et al. 11). The paper will help argue that technology positively impacts our academic writing skills. In my research, I plan to use this paper to demonstrate the connection between technological conveniences for students and the direct impact on their writing preparation skills.
Wen, Xue and Shauna M. Walters. “The Impact of Technology on Students’ Writing Performances in Elementary Classrooms: A Meta-Analysis.” Computers and Education Open, vol. 3, 2022.
The study “The Impact of Technology on Students’ Writing Performances…” by Wen and Walters (1) looks at the positive effects of technology on children’s development of academic writing. The authors focused on investigating technology’s quantitative and qualitative effects in developing writing skills in elementary school children to establish why technology should be integrated into the educational process. The study found that the changing nature of children’s and adolescents’ literacy is a dependent parameter that technological advances can positively influence. Wen and Walters (5) found that technology ensures that children’s various sensory systems are enabled to compose writing, and mobile technology is better than others at improving the quality and quantity of writing. Tablets and computers help children generate ideas and plan their writing because they have many resources to write wholly and intelligently.
This paper was chosen for research because it directly points to the role of technology in general and its reflection on the educational process. Academic writing is part of learning, and understanding the perspective of the technological world in learning should empower schools and universities in their development. This paper is a good choice for research because it explains the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of academic writing as influenced by technology. It also specifies how and why technology affects writing. The paper will help my argument by pointing out the benefits of technology, even for children who do not yet fully understand the purpose of academic writing. It will help me convince my audience that technology cannot be a priori evil for children. In my research, I will use this article to point out the multifaceted nature of technology and its varied applications in practice.
Negative Impact
Ashraf, Faiza. “The Impact of Texting (SMS) on Students Academic Writing”. International Journal of Scientific and Research Publication, vol. 9, issue 3, 2019, pp. 58-64.
The study “Impact of Texting (SMS) on Students Academic Writing” by Ashraf (58) looks at the impact of technology, such as texting, on students’ academic writing ability. The authors determined a correlation between the abbreviations used in personal correspondence and essay writing performance. Ashraf (61) found that students struggle with punctuation, spelling, and sentences in academic papers (projects and essays). The study confirms a negative correlation between the frequency of technology use and informal networking with academic writing. The author also points out that “computing and smartphone advancement has a negative impact on students’ academic writing performance,” so how often texting is used in life should be handled responsibly (Ashraf 62). The article also reveals the negative side of technology use and suggests potential causes.
This paper was chosen for research because it requires evaluating all sides of complex issues to develop a personal argument. The paper denies the positive effects of using technology, suggesting that the problems associated with it should be considered. This paper is a good choice for research because it demonstrates the controversial nature of the issues; therefore, research needs to be done. This source will help me to argue that not all technologies can be helpful, but those that focus on learning to improve our ability to write academically. I plan to use this source as a counterargument in my research to show that there is an argument as such and the relevance of the topic.
Impact on Advanced Students
Iqbal, Md. Hafiz et al. “Online Technology: Effective Contributor to Academic Writing,” In Intelligent Computing and Optimization (pp. 1281-1294). London, UK: Springer, 2021.
The study “Online Technology: Effective Contributor to Academic Writing” by Iqbal et al. (1281) identifies perspectives on the use of technology in academic writing by identifying the boundaries of its use and the most promising techniques. The authors focused on how students envision the use of technology and the potential benefits of Internet-created writing. Academic writing technologies can have a positive effect on students who are eager to gain knowledge and develop skills. The study found a positive correlation for those individuals who had aspirations to develop skills, confirming the potential for technology use in high-performing groups. The authors also believe that the current situation does not fully provide opportunities for gifted students, so more technology services to educational institutions are needed. The article expresses support for technology that reinforces skills rather than teaching them entirely from scratch.
This paper was chosen for research because it allows us to understand the benefits of technology and the barriers to its organic and appropriate use. Iqbal et al. (1285) point to the high frequency of positive results among succeeding students who use online technology in their essays. This paper is a good choice for research because it points to specific applications of technology rather than blindly using online materials. This source helps to articulate the potential of technology for already prepared students who need to consolidate a skill rather than build up anew. The article helps me argue that technology equipment positively affects students who are interested in learning rather than wanting to cheat. I plan to use this source to convince the reader that technology is appropriate to teach and support rather than replace practical skills.
