Before proceeding to the development of the proposal, the authors are faced with the task of conducting a specialized trace analysis. This measure determines the allocation of such aspects as text, reader, author, constraints, and exigence. These aspects will help to better understand the importance of the topic under study, the amount of evidence in the form of scientific papers that are related to it, and the audience for which a scientific paper should be written. Therefore, as part of this trace analysis, attention was focused on proposing Africatown and the descendants of Clotilda should be added to history books and discussed in mobile county public schools.
The first aspect is the text, which implies a description of the arguments for the proposed topic. Further, the importance of studying the history and development of Africatown and the descendants of Clotilda is critical, as it is of great importance in the history of the development of the black community. Thus, research stated that “the story of the Clotilda, the last known ship engaged in the illegal slave trade to bring kidnapped Africans to the United States, has long been part of the lore of the Mobile region” (p. 345). Moreover, this knowledge will be necessary not only for people of color, as knowledge of historical data contributes to the dissemination of awareness about the backgrounds of each of the cultures, races, and nationalities.
The next aspect is to determine the readers or audience for whom the complete proposal can become exciting and valuable. Hence, the main task of the author within this paragraph is to attract as many people as possible to expand the dissemination of awareness about the researched issue. Therefore, since the work concerns the dissemination of knowledge about Africatown and the descendants of Clotilda in the history books and public-school programs, the main listeners should be educational bodies that develop legislation and standards in this area. Furthermore, teachers who teach in schools can also be attributed directly to the audience.
Based on the knowledge I gained in the course of studying the culture of people of color, I can say that I consider it essential to spread awareness about the history of these people. Additionally, I believe that the school educational system should pay more attention to this kind of knowledge. This is due to the fact that it will affect not only the education of students but also the dissemination of the principles of equality and tolerance. The main limitation of the proposed argument is the complexity of implementing a story that can have such violent events. Their interpretation is possible; however, in this case, important and valuable information may be lost. Therefore, some of the descendants of all involved are still alive, which can be helpful.
In conclusion, the problem that Africatown and the descendants of Clotilda should be added to history books and discussed in mobile county public schools is an important one to study. This is due to the need to spread awareness about the historical background of the colored community and contributes to strengthening tolerance and respect for other cultures, traditions, and stories. Therefore, the main goal of the future proposal is to resolve the issue with some response from an audience. Thus, by attracting public attention, it is possible to achieve changes in educational programs for training on the topic of Africatown and the descendants of the Clotilda.
