Nurse Practitioner has the ability to influence future healthcare policies. Participating on policy boards to advocate for a permanent increase in licensing is one method to do so. The advantages of Nurse Practitioners having a broader scope of practice influence the whole nursing profession. As more states amend their legislation to expand the scope of practice for nurse practitioners, evaluation and diagnosis will become even more critical. Nurse Practitioners must be capable of evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients of all ages (Carson-Newman University, 2021). As the need for health care professionals increased during the pandemic, several states awarded Nurse Practitioners full practice authority, allowing them to work to the full extent of their licensure. Nurse Practitioners are now permitted to request tests and drugs previously prohibited in some states.
After many years of navigating the world of professional nursing, I am now able to assist individuals in a variety of ways. While studying to be a nurse, I discovered the function of nurse practitioners and felt it was exactly what I was searching for. I want to work with a wide range of patients so that I may have a variety of experiences each day. I appreciate maintaining long-term nurse-patient relationships in which I may assist a patient in working through a difficult diagnosis. Working with a seasoned physician and his team allows me to get experience in patient care in a professional atmosphere. Patient satisfaction is a top objective, along with favorable outcomes. I have a continuing dialogue with a patient while they are under my care, concentrating on their comfort and understanding. By offering precise answers to their queries, I show them that I’m paying attention to them and their caretakers.
Most nurses are born leaders, which is a vital talent for a nurse practitioner to have. Nurse Practitioners are leaders in health care, improving patient outcomes and lowering costs by providing evidence-based treatment. As a result, staying up to date on the latest research and data-driven techniques is critical. Nurse Practitioners should also make it a habit to seek out new learning opportunities on a regular basis. The pandemic’s rapidly changing information, for example, forces Nurse Practitioners to review new data on a frequent basis. Active listening is another crucial trait that helps a great Nurse Practitioner show respect for a patient while also creating trust. Depending on the amount of attention and sensitivity, a listener might be classified as a non-listener, marginal listener, evaluative listener, or active listener. Active listening is the most significant and most successful degree of communication since it goes beyond the first category and leads to an increase in trust and effective communication.
I realize how worried family members are about their loved ones, which might be the most challenging aspect of being a nurse practitioner. The patient doesn’t always recall or communicate the information I’ve given them correctly. The family is scared and powerless because they don’t comprehend and can’t remedy the problem. I take the time to listen to and answer each of their issues, and when appropriate, I provide patient education resources. I explained that my mission is to deliver the most acceptable possible treatment. I ask if they have any more questions, and if they have, I welcome them to contact me. Professionally, I want this constant connection with humankind, this gift, to be a driving factor in my life.
