Social media has grown rapidly in terms of influence as opposed to the leisure platform it used to be a couple of decades ago. It can either bring a company success or lead it to its demise, depending on how the latter handles its reputation and presents itself. In the following text, I am going to thoroughly review one of those processes and depict a specific method.
In order to improve the sales of a certain product, it is advisable to use social media platforms. Spreadsheets and announcements on TV are a rather dated way of promoting goods. One of the ways I could incorporate social media requires me to define my target audience and, in accordance with that, search for the websites and networks that they use more frequently (Alfred, 2020). For example, if my company sells makeup products for teenagers, I should promote my goods on the websites that are the most popular among them. This could make my pathway of selling and advertising my goods easier and more specific than it would have been if I did not do it.
Some of the actions I might take, besides the one mentioned earlier, involve being up-to-date with what this group sees as appealing or interesting, making sure the vocabulary being used in my posts is relevant to them, while also not looking too awkward in the process. Contrary to popular opinion, it is easier said than done, as most companies that are targeted towards teenagers look rather odd when they try to cater to this demographic, even if the products are in high demand among the latter.
This is why I need to involve younger coworkers who are closer to the customers in terms of age, as they are more likely to know what they may find appealing and what may repel them. One might say I could have done it myself, but I believe that I should rely on someone who has a better understanding of teenagers’ demands. Some of the questions I could ask to improve the process are “What does this group consider to be interesting?”, “What vocabulary should I use in the posts to look relatable?”, “What does this audience expect from such products?” Finally, I will know that the process was improved when there will be a significant increase in sales and teenagers will find my products appealing.
