Today I am going to talk about various facts about Drake. Some of the aspects that I will analyze are where he is from, what inspired his music career, how he reached the point he is now, and what you can expect from him in the future. Drake is a Canadian rapper and songwriter born in 1986 to Sandi Graham and Dennis Graham (Boutros 97). His music career has been a successful journey since he has won different awards.
Being Jewish and biracial led to his discrimination in high school, forcing him to quit and start an acting career. Surprisingly, Drake landed a role in a Canadian teen drama series, “Degrassi: The Next Generation.” His role in the series was of significant importance since it helped him gain popularity in Canada. Drake began attempting to start his music career in the world of hip hop, releasing his first mix-tape, “Room for Improvement,” in 2006. Drake released another mix-tape in 2007, which increased his popularity in the music industry. Moreover, his music became famous in Europe, where he topped many entertainment categories.
Lil Wayne noticed his increasing celebrity in the music industry and signed him to Young Money Entertainment. Drake toured various states with Lil Wayne’s recording label, leading to his recognition in many states. Other musicians such as Birdman and Nicki Minaj have released different songs using the recording label. Therefore, Drake benefited from the company since it gave him a platform to sell his music and increase his celebrity in the music industry.
Drake has evolved, whereby he has released various hit songs. For instance, “God’s Plan” is one of his hit songs that topped multiple charts in the United States (Persadie et al. 52). Not many people have garnered popularity and achievement in the music industry within a short period. However, Drake is one of the musicians who have won many awards in the hip-hop sector within a short period. His music passion has also been an essential aspect of his career despite facing racial discrimination challenges (Rubin 76). He has also performed in various concerts in different countries, expanding his fan base. His recording with Young Money Entertainment and developing his Canadian label increased his celebrity in the music industry. Musicians encounter various obstacles, such as engaging in disputes with other artists. Drake has also experienced such incidents, whereby he was involved in feuds with Meek Mill and Chris Brown.
