Advances in Information Communication Technology (ICT) and automation influence the developed economies all over the world. In the UAE, automation offers the greatest prospects in industrial and civil infrastructure, such as power plants, power grids, water distribution systems, public transportation, gas pipelines, etc. (Zineddine, 2016). It is feasible to assume that the jobs concentrated in these sectors will implement automation at an increasing pace, reducing the need for people except for the maintenance crews and several management positions. Jobs with a heavy emphasis on human intercourse or featuring too many variables to automate efficiently, such as the hospitality industry, healthcare, entertainment, and others, are unlikely to be automated in the near future. In any case, staying relevant and competitive requires organizations and employees to take certain steps. Individuals should develop their soft skills and the ability to adapt to a swiftly changing working environment (Bowles, Bowes, & Wilson, 2019).
Organizations will have to develop and introduce capacity frameworks that will provide a standard to judge the employee qualities that cannot yet be automated and, as such, constitute a priority (Bowles, Bowes, & Wilson, 2019). With these steps taken, both employees and organizations will have a decent chance of remaining future-proof in the age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
