It is normal for partners in a relationship to hide their wild sexual desires from each other. If a partner is bold enough to express the desire to engage in a sexual activity that may not be desirable to the other party, it only means that he or she is free and honest.

It is, however, one thing to propose a sexual activity, and another to execute it if one of the partners finds it offensive. Love and sex call for compromises between the partners. It is important for both partners to understand that sex is an important part of the relationship, and partners in a couple should always try to satisfy each other’s desires. Even when the proposed activity seems offensive to one partner, he or she should at least be willing to give it a try for their partner’s sake.

In such a complex situation where a person considers the desires of their partner offensive, the best approach is to talk about it. For instance, a person could suggest to their partner about his or her desire to record their lovemaking session on video. In such a situation, the opposing partner should express his or her worries about the issue.

It is important not to judge each other in such a situation because relationships thrive through ultimate honesty on personal desires. In such a case, the partners could start by recording the sessions and deleting the files immediately after watching the video. This approach should give the opposing partner the required peace of mind. Couples can get through their sexual fears with practice; hence, it is always advisable to try out each other’s proposed sexual activity in bed for satisfaction purposes.

Balancing Sexual Desire and Moral Convictions

It is very difficult for heterosexual partners to abstain until they are married, especially if they have strong desires to engage in intercourse. When a couple is focused on saving sex for marriage, they have to ensure that they are never in a compromising situation that tempts them into dropping their moral convictions. The couple should ensure that they remind each other about their moral orientation, and they should also avoid discussing their sexual desires. Sex should always be the last thing on their minds because the urge multiplies when they think about it.

Balancing sexual desire and moral convictions is also reinforced by assuming a spiritual approach toward protecting morals. Couples should pray for the strength to help them abstain. They should accept that it is normal to have such desires, but they should also support each other to keep their minds away from their bodily urges. There are also abstinence groups that they can help a couple to keep off sex until marriage.

Counseling is also a valid option for couples that are looking to wait until marriage to have sex. Being around married couples that waited until marriage would also be a good option because they can help the young couple to develop values and approaches to dating that can help them abstain. It is also important to live separately if the desire is too much.

The temptation to have sex when living in the same house is extreme, and it is better to avoid it. Dating should also be limited to outdoor activities where there are minimal risks of having private moments that can lead to having sex. Avoidance is the best policy when a couple wants to keep off sex.
