Mission Statement
This is a healthcare organization that is located in the United States. It operates over 20 hospitals across the nation. Banner HealthCare is a large organization, which is the 2nd largest business organization in Arizona after Walmart. It has a mission strategy that directs its strategies, as well as objectives. Its mission statement is, “We exist to make a difference in people’s lives through excellent patient care” (Banner Health, 2014, para. 3).
The main objective of Banner HealthCare is to provide health services to people. Therefore, all its efforts are geared towards achieving this goal. The mission statement of any organization is designed to guide its long-term objectives. In other words, the mission of an organization is the reason for its existence (Ginter, Duncan, & Swayne, 2013). The mission statement of Banner HealthCare depicts the reason why the organization exists. It’s two major characteristics that are aligned to the organization’s directional strategies are: making a difference in peoples’ lives and providing patient care.
A healthy nation is a nation where people have better lives. Health problems have a negative effect on peoples’ lifestyles. The strategic direction of Banner HealthCare is to ensure that people lead healthy lives, thus they have better lives. The organization will be on the right path towards achieving its strategic objectives if it provides quality patient care and improves peoples’ lives. Therefore, the mission is an indication to all the employees that they should provide the best patient care services. This will ensure a healthier nation and the lives of the people will be better. People will not spend a lot on health care; instead, they will spend that money on other things that can improve their lifestyles.
Values Statement
Banner HealthCare has values that define the culture and tradition of the organization. The values are demonstrated through actions, as well as behaviors of the people in Banner HealthCare. These are employees, managers, as well as other service providers in the organization. The values are: “People Above All”, “Excellence” and “Results” (Banner Health, 2014, para. 4). The “People Above All” phrase means that the organization values its clients above anything else.
As a result, Banner HealthCare offers the best services to its clients, treats them well, and is respectful to them. It gives priority to the people it serves and ensures that they are fully satisfied with the services they get. Integrity is essential for the success of any organization, which is the reason Banner HealthCare values integrity. In addition, it offers quality services to maximize client satisfaction. Finally, under the “Results”, Banner HealthCare works towards achieving its objectives. It aims to offer services beyond expectations and enhance client satisfaction.
Recommended strategic goal
One strategic goal that can align with Banner HealthCare’s mission statement is to ensure a safe environment that reduces the chances of contracting diseases. This is a goal that aligns with the mission statement because it improves the living conditions of people. The success factor necessary for Banner HealthCare to achieve this strategic goal is that it will need to embrace partnerships with all related associates to support and help in maintaining a safe environment. The partners could be environmental agencies, as well as other health organizations and hygienic service providers.
Ways in which the Banner HealthCare board of directors can influence the policy
Banner HealthCare should communicate the policy to all the organizational stakeholders. For instance, informing all the workers about the policy will increase their chances of working towards the policy and following the policy (Hill & Jones, 2012). Secondly, the board should support the policy with any financial needs. This includes the finances required for awareness creation, among other expenses. Finally, the board should embrace change as it occurs to make the policy better. For instance, change is dynamic, especially in technology and it is essential for the success of organizations. Therefore, the board should embrace technology and the changes that come with it.
