The BlackBerry OS is the most difficult smartphone technology to crack and this gives it competitive advantage over the iPhone 4s. Its data security system makes the BlackBerry smartphone the most ideal mobile operating system for enterprise use.

The BlackBerry 7 OS is more user friendly when it comes to enterprise needs since it is more enterprise focused (Wilson & Fenton 2011). It has built in Microsoft Office editors which enable users to operate MS Office documents in a similar way as computer users.

Blackberry provides the option for smartphone users to either use the QWERTY keypad system (BlackBerry 9900) or touchscreen technology (BlackBerry Touch) in their products. Apple smartphones only use the touchscreen technology and this is what is adopted in the iPhone 4s.

Its weight is also lighter that Apple’s gadget which is 140 grams since Samsung galaxy s2 is 116 grams. Users of Samsung’s device get to experience the modern smartphone experience on a lighter, thinner and bigger display as compared to users of Apple’s iPhone 4s.

The screen of the Samsung device is also stronger than Apple’s latest iPhone since drop tests have revealed that Samsung galaxy s2’s screen survives greater impact as compared to its counterpart. Samsung galaxy s2 is therefore stronger and more comfortable to hold and view as compared to the iPhone 4s.

When it comes to device support, Android has greater advantages as compared to iOS 5 which is used in the iPhone 4s. This is because Android is an open source OS which means that it allows users to get connectivity to more devices since there are no restrictions.

iOS 5 is a proprietary OS and so it restricts most of the connectivity options only to the manufacturer’s devices. The open source OS makes Android to allow connectivity to the most number of devices compared to the blackberry and Apple operating systems (Mobile Innovation 2012).

When it comes to performance, Android was the first to introduce the NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor which means that devices using this mobile operating system are known to be faster in browsing. This mobile super chip enables multitasking and hardware accelerated flash which provides users with a computer-like browsing experience on a mobile phone (Spoonauer 2011).

In summary, the iPhone 4s has many incredible features but its competitors beat it in terms of some specific characteristics. For instance, the iPhone 4s are sold with fixed memory sizes of 8/16/32 GB whereas the BlackBerry and Samsung galaxy 2s come with expandable memory.

The iPhone 4s also has security loopholes which gives the Blackberry competitive advantage in sectors such as consultancies, banks and security agencies. The microUSB connector of the BlackBerry and Samsung galaxy 2s are standardized whereas that of iPhone 4s is proprietary one meaning that they are available only from Apple vendors (Wahlman 2009).
