The post provides good advice of how to communicate with Buddhist adepts and focuses on two points: a sound understanding of a religion a person believes in and finding similarities between Christianity and Buddhism that people can share. I believe these two approaches would be effective since they allow to establish a common ground between the two worldviews so that people feel closer to each other no matter how different their religions are. Apart from speaking about the afterlife and the path for each person being outlined by God, I would also stress the fact that both religions agree that it is inadmissible to cause harm – be it murder, treason, theft, beating, and so on. Moreover, both Buddhism and Christianity believe that there are supernatural or divine powers that have an impact on people’s life.
Apart from the difficulties in understanding Christian creeds Buddhists may experience that are outlined in the post, such as that seeing God as a creator, I would add some more points it could be problematic for them to grasp. Thus, the notion of prayer, that in Christianity is seen as the address to almighty God may not find comprehension on their part as they do not perceive God as a person but rather an abstract entity (Thelle, 2021). Moreover, suffering is understood differently in Buddhist and Christian religions. While Buddhists see suffering as an integral part of life, in Christianity people can put a stop to it finding unity with God, a notion that may cause misunderstanding on the part of Buddhist adepts.
