Introduction

Campus is not only the university area, the place where students live during their studies, but it is also a place where students’ personality and character is formed. Every campus has its own cultures, traditions and customs. People of one and the same campus try to draw together as in most cases they have common interests and goals (as they have entered one University). And as any big gathering of people, the campuses have some problems in organization and structure.

There are a lot of problems faced on every campus. The problems in campuses are common, drinking, what to do with free time, how to work the technical equipment on campus and lots of others. People search for ways to solve these problems, and they think about some decisions to improve the students’ life on the campus.

Discussion

After investigating the problems on different campuses and analyzing them I made the conclusion that one problem occurs in every campus: this is the problem of parking. You may consider this problem to be not so serious, and I would have agreed with you several days ago, but not now. After the research we conducted, we can make a conclusion that this is a real problem. The problem requires some solutions as soon as possible.

The problem is parking and the number of places in it. We used to consider this problem not so serious at first. But it is a problem. Students do not want to spend their free time and physical abilities on bicycle riding or walking to the University. It is also not very convenient for them to use a bus and they take their cars. The problem appears when they try to park near the University.

Finding a free spot is always a problem. Students have to spend much time looking for a free spot in the rows of cars or wait when somebody will free one for them. The parking places are usually occupied by the faculty and staff already, who come earlier. Parking in the other place, it also cannot be the solution to the problem. The cause is understood: it takes too much time to walk to the University even if the street is not far from it.

Students spend too much time on this procedure and are often late for their classes. If they still make up their minds to enter the class, they are very irritated and angry about the incident. They take their places and are ready to kick anyone who dares to say them some extra word. Such students can think about nothing but their morning adventure and cannot concentrate their thoughts on the subject they study. They are unable to get the necessary information. Being in the class, they are absent in fact. Later, they to study this missed information by themselves what turns to be rather difficult and sometimes even impossible. As a result these students lag behind the whole group.

The current question is also up for debate for teachers, as they should come earlier to be sure to find the parking place and not to be late for classes. So, they also spend their time on looking for a parking spot.

As you see, one little inconvenience leads to a huge problem. Asking the students to use bicycles or to walk is not the way out. The University should provide some structural and organization changes in order to solve this problem. The problem is solvable. Of course, it may lead to some financial expenses but it is better to give provide some financing now, and not to suffer from the students’ poor progress in future.

I want to offer several solutions to this problem. The first one is the broadening the parking area. The area should be policed and secured. This step is very important as the offered idea more space and forbiddance to be accessed by strangers. The access to the parking area should be provided by special permits which should be free for students and staff of the University.

When the area is broadened, the University should come to the other stage of the project. The area should be divided into two parts: one is for the faculty and staff, and the other is for students. This will avoid some misunderstandings. The teachers will know that the huge number of students will not prevent him or her to take up the spot in the parking area. The parking area for teachers should be marked by their first names. The purpose is understandable: teachers will be sure that their places will be available for them at any time.

So, the problem is solved for teachers as their number is not so big as the students’. It is much easier to organize these changes only for teachers. But still the problem should be solved for both, staff and students.

The best way out is also to make a list of students who live far from the university and has no other way out as to use the car. These students should also be provided with the numbers or with some other signs about their own parking spot. We agree that the way out we offer is rather difficult to provide immediately, but still it is going to prevent some inconveniences connected with the parking.

There are students who live not far from the university but still want to use car to get to it. The ideal variant is to provide all students with the numbered parking spots, but we understand that in some cases it is impossible. So, we tried to search for some other ways in solving the problem.

One of the ways out is to provide the week access to the parking area. The vast majority of the students, who live not far from the university but still want to use cars, have to be divided into two or more parts. The other step is to choose who is going to have access to the parking this week and who is on the other. Those students who do not have access this week have to look for some other ways to get to the University: either to use bus or bicycle, or to ask his/her friends to give a lift to the University, if they are on one way, and not to forget to return their kindness by lifting those students the next week.

Conclusion

So, we tried to represent the audience with the most possible ways of solving the problem concerning the parking area from our point of view. The steps may be: broadening the parking area, dividing it on several parts (for students and teachers), making the permits for access, providing numbered or signed spots for everybody among the students and staff who want to use cars to get to the university.
