Introduction

The healthcare reforms that the United States came to during the presidency of Barack Obama have come a long way. The reason for such a long passage of the necessary legislation is mainly social and political complications. However, the process of changing healthcare is still ongoing, as it is a factor that must meet the needs of an ever-changing society. Healthcare must continue to become fairer and more accessible through new reforms.

Main Body

Health reform laws are needed to protect citizens and provide the affordable healthcare services people need to maintain well-being. Healthcare reform is a logical process in response to societal changes that seek to become more equitable. Unfortunately, the adoption of new legislative acts is a long-term process. The healthcare reforms President Barack Obama signed into law in March 2010 took 75 years to go into action (Morone, 2010). Awareness of the need for such a reform was discovered long ago. Still, the path to adopting the necessary laws was long due to political, economic, and social reasons. Financial instability has become an obstacle that prevents the state from allocating additional funds (Morone, 2010). The political risks of such decisions are also high since a defeat can lead to a loss of support from citizens (Morone, 2010). At the same time, any reforms can cause social tension; therefore, not radical but cautious actions are often required, which also restrain politicians.

Barack Obama’s healthcare reform was one of the most important steps in advancing affordable medicine. A suitable legislative framework has been created that can make healthcare more equitable (Morone, 2010). However, many people still do not have adequate health protection. Further reforms are needed to enable as many citizens as possible to receive affordable medical services. These changes are necessary and inevitable as America’s modern society strives to be fairer, and healthcare must continue this trend.

Conclusion

In conclusion, public health reforms take a long time due to political, economic, and social reasons. Policymakers may fear the failure of reforms and loss of support, and economic instability imposes serious constraints. Society may need more time to prepare for drastic reforms, encouraging politicians to be more careful. Barack Obama’s reform was a significant achievement for healthcare, but new laws are needed to make healthcare more accessible.
