Introduction

The modern world is fast-changing, yet some issues remain unsolved for years. Each country has specific problems that affect countless people, and the global society shares certain matters that impact the planet. Humankind must work towards implementing changes that would ensure a better future for everyone living on Earth. If I had the opportunity and the resources, I would strive to fight the food crisis, end homelessness, and eliminate corruption.

Hunger

I would begin by focusing on national issues, one of which is hunger. About 37 million people in the US do not have access to healthy and affordable food (Paddison, 2021). However, the country throws away 40% of edible produce that could have fed 164 million people (Paddison, 2021). Everyone needs nutritious food to be healthy and active, and although food redistribution is not a new idea, it is one way to overcome the hunger crisis (Paddison, 2021). If I had the resources, I would support the organizations that redirect food to those in need, as I understand that collecting and shipping the products is a complex process. Moreover, I would participate in national marketing programs to promote sharing excess food instead of wasting it so that US citizens would be more mindful of what and how they consume.

Homelessness

Furthermore, while ensuring that people in the country have access to food, I would strive to provide them with houses. Homelessness is a recurring problem that is caused by society and affects it at the same time (Olivet, 2022). Although some may think that homeless people are jobless individuals, the population that needs shelter combines racial minority groups, families with children, and young persons who are discriminated against by the public (Olivet, 2022). Society must comprehend that while thousands of people exit homelessness annually, the issue remains systematic and difficult to solve (Olivet, 2022). Many matters must be addressed when fighting the problem, but one of the most basic solutions seems to be building more affordable houses. If I had the opportunity and the resources, I would fund programs that construct homes for those in need, which could also present additional job openings.

Corruption

I realize that society must transform to make the above changes, but people also need the right leaders. Paddison (2021) writes that overcoming hunger requires addressing financial disinvestment, the lack of liveable wages, and poor transportation systems. Olivet (2022) states that ending homelessness demands strengthening the crisis response system, implementing various supportive services, and changing policies. Therefore, the nation needs adequate authority, and one way to ensure that the proper people are elected to managerial positions is by eliminating corruption in politics. The battle against corruption is recognized as one of the US national security interests, as it threatens democracy, economic equity, and development efforts (The White House, 2021). Accordingly, it seems that The White House (2021) has presented a report with sufficient methods for overcoming the issue, and I would reinforce the government’s plan if I had the resources to do so. In particular, I would support the practices that are meant to ensure the transparency of actions in politics, such as holding corrupt individuals accountable.

Conclusion

To summarize, I would strive to facilitate changes concerning hunger, homelessness, and corruption issues across the nation to make the world better. By focusing on national matters, the country could find efficient solutions and become stronger to have more opportunities to aid communities around the globe. As most problems are complex and interconnected, overcoming worldwide crises requires a joint and continuous effort from all people.
