An effective morning routine is essential in dictating the mindset of students for the rest of the day. Early classes that do not facilitate a comfortable but engaging mood are unlikely to provide students with the motivation to be attentive and energetic throughout the day. This is why setting a tone within a morning routine is suggested. Essentially, excitement and energy should be facilitated by the teacher in order for students themselves to feel excited and engaged with the morning routine itself as well as the learning and activities of the day (San Bernardino Unified School District, 2018). This can be achieved in a number of different ways but physical activities in combination with learning or reviews are used most frequently as they contribute to memorization and instill excitement among students.
A sense of family can be fostered in a number of ways within a classroom setting. However, the essential elements include collaboration, mutual respect, caring attitudes, and fun shared experiences. Some of these factors can be found in tasks and activities that promote conversation and cooperation, sharing intentions and thoughts, and engaging in diverse but exciting activities (Willis, 2021). Similarly, students should appreciate the efforts made by their classmates and feel that their work is appreciated. Some specific morning routine activities can include things like check-ins, reviews, and collaborative physical tasks. Students can feel capable, connected, and contributing when they engage in empowering activities and conversations (Spencer, 2019). This should involve listening and sharing information in a respectful manner between classmates and the teacher. An important ideology for the classroom also involves the concept that accomplishments have to be worked for and achieved. They cannot exist inherently and must be taught in the classroom.
