Within a team’s conflict, management is an essential part of the decision making process. However, when communication conflict presents groupthink then, the interdisciplinary team is unable to function and offer a clear perspective on health issues. Interprofessional teams within the health care framework have become a core value of the system. For modern health care has become a complex model that is demanding health care individuals to work within teams for better health care outcomes. However, effective communication has been a challenge to the interprofessional teams leading to an unethical conflicts, which adversely impact health outcomes.
Unethical conflicts and misunderstands are the main barrios to the effective interdisciplinary teams’ work. Therefore, for the organization to achieve critical success within its interdisciplinary teams, the leadership style of the team and the organizations has to be democratic. The democratic model allows for airing of views, ideas and involves active participation and excellent listening skills. A leader must be willing to have a transformative agenda that is hinged on professional excellence within learning and practice. According to Lehane et al., the use of practical models and evidence-based practices stemming from scholarly research offers solutions to various problems (2019). Hence, by use of relational development, the organization will initiate a good communication strategy that will cater to the relational aspect of the interprofessional team allowing for critical decision-making founded on practicality and evidence-based practices.
The development of collaborative and cooperative relationships are established within the development and management of communication skills which will, in turn, offer the foundation for interdisciplinary teams to provide quality health care outcomes. Interprofessional teams should aim to create a collaborative and cooperative environment hinged on relational development. The development of excellent interpersonal communication skills will ultimately lead to proactive interprofessional teams.
