Comparison of the US Parties Essay

A two-party system of the USA is a practice that has been developed and perfected over the years. Democrats and Republicans represent the interests of the entire population and ensure the functioning of the system, despite the existence of other political forces. Consequently, the current political system is thriving today, and any third party needs to present a program that takes into account the interests of all groups of society at once to win.

The websites of Democrats and Republicans represent entirely different approaches and ideas as the parties do. The target audience of Republicans are representatives of “real Americans” who want to protect the country from migrants and external threats. Democrats take into account the interests of all residents, including migrants and insecure people; for example, the site has a version in Spanish (Democratic National Committee).

Both sites clearly show the image of the parties with both photographs and headlines: Republicans demonstrate a stricter and more radical policy, while Democrats are more focused on liberal changes. Perhaps Republicans should reduce the number of articles with headlines criticizing Democrats and increase the number of discussing political issues on the site, for example, add education and retirement security to attract regular workers (House Republicans).

At the same time, the Reform Party website is noticeably weaker, since the issues are described briefly. Their ideas are similar to Republicans mostly, but they also suggest leaving some international organizations to provide workplaces for Americans(“Core Principles”). In addition, the site has complicated navigation and an unfinished design.

The Democratic and Republican parties usually take opposite positions; therefore, in general, they represent the interests of the entire US population. The advantages of a two-party system are the simplicity of election and decision-making by the parliament since many different opinions would complicate the choice of voters and the formation of a coalition. However, the disadvantages of the system are a polarization of society, and that people often vote for their “traditional” choice, rather than political ideas. A third party, such as the Reform Party, is unlikely to rise a power soon as Democrats and Republicans have many supporters. Any third party needs unique ideas that satisfy the interests of the majority of the population, which is almost impossible in modern USA society.
