Is Australia the great nanny state?

Australia can be referred to as a nanny state and this is in comparison with other countries (The age 2011, p. 6). A nanny state is best described by a lot of protectionism and regulatory policies that are always common practice. In a broad perspective, such a state can be said to have a lot of unwarranted intervention. On the other hand, policies are always institutionalized as far as nanny states are concerned. Such countries are guided by a lot of laws that are supposed to be adhered to by all citizens. In other countries like Argentina, people can do whatever they like. This means that there are no rules in such countries and people engage in activities that you would never find in Australia. In this case, Australia has a lot of controls that qualify it to be a nanny state. For instance, workers can block a road to protest the whole day. People in other states do not live with the rules that Australians are exposed to. There is no freedom in Australia because people are always forced to abide by a wide range of laws. The country has laws against everything and this, therefore, qualifies it to be a nanny state. People are not allowed to make their own decisions like in other countries where rules are a little bit relaxed.

Individuals who have traveled outside Australia can be in the best position to tell this based on the experiences that they have had while abroad. For instance, bars in Spain are not regulated as much and an individual can have fun at his pleasure. On the other hand, Australia has some foodservice laws that will always restrict owners on what is supposed to be done. Australia can not be compared with countries in South-East Asia that are almost lawless (The age 2011, p. 6). People have nowadays scanned fingerprints in bars in Australia and this might just sound ridiculous when compared with places like Laos. There is an argument that everything always works in Australia. Australia has many rules with individuals who always obey those rules thereby making it a safe state. For instance, there are no unnecessary traffic jams and this is good.

What do you think would be the top destination for sports, cultural, food, and wine events?

Of all these destinations, South Africa will be the best for sports, cultural, food, and wine events. It should be known that incentives and meetings travel is gaining prominence and this will be the major aspect. South Africa has a lot of beautiful sceneries that can attract a lot of people to the country (Conworld, 2011, p. 6). As far as sports and cultural events are concerned, the country is just fresh from hosting the world cup. In this case, various facilities that were not there have been built thereby giving it a new lease of life. A sunny climate and cultural diversity are some of the factors that will continue making South Africa a top destination. Cultural diversity will make it possible for the country to host cultural events as time goes by. This is because cultural diversity revolves around various aspects like food that need to be sampled.

Sports events can be held in South Africa because it has proved that it can host any event. The country can host various events and this is across diverse prices and sizes that are always needed (Conworld, 2011, p. 7). All in all, South Africa will continue being a top destination because various facilities are still coming up while others are being refurbished. The country offers a lot of opportunities through safari trips and this can bring in people from diverse backgrounds (Conworld, 2011, p. 8). South Africa is still growing as a top destination and this will likely attract people who want new experiences.
