During the American Revolution, the ideological and political riots were affected by the population diversity and contributions of various marginalized groups. However, when it comes to the revolution’s heroes, the men from the front line are usually the ones discussed. The cultural contribution to the process is then severely undermined. Still, the popularization of marginalized culture remains one of the most significant parts of the American Revolution, as it claims the development and capabilities of people considered to be uneducated and unworthy. Phillis Wheatley was the one who broke the vicious circle of ignorance, claiming exceptional talent and unprecedented braveness to voice her opinion. Some of her significant contributions include the commence of the African-American literary movement and the ability to claim the importance of her life through the power of the word. Moreover, the book was appreciated by a variety of colonists who were left with nothing but accepting Black woman’s aptitude and intelligence.
Iroquois Confederacy, Native Americans
Iroquois Confederacy was the alliance of six native groups aiming at defending their lands from the devastating riots. During the revolution itself, under the leadership of Thayendanegea, also known as Joseph Brant, Native American tribes pooled their efforts with the British. When speaking of their contribution to the process, it should be mentioned that the Confederacy played a crucial strategic role in terms of battle and leadership in the French-British paradigm. Moreover, Iroquois Confederacy served as one of the vivid examples of a democratic community, encouraging other tribes and fellow residents to follow their suit.
Boston King, African-American
Boston King was one of the members of the Black Loyalists of the American revolution, playing a significant role in terms of the revolution’s military support. Having spent most of his life as a slave, King pursued a chance to break free with the help of entering the military forces of Great Britain, who promised liberty for their soldiers. When speaking of the man’s contribution to the American Revolution, the first thing that should be outlined is the perseverance of the soldier considering the challenge and battles he had to drag himself into. Furthermore, after managing to escape slavery in Canada, Boston King pursued the idea of African-Americans’ enlightenment and Christianity.
Abigail Adams, Woman
Abigail Adams was the wife of John Adams, Massachusetts Congressional Delegate, was among those women who pioneered in expressing public concern about their rights and position and society. Just like the vast majority of women during wars and revolutions, Abigail Adams was implicitly held responsible for everything that happened to her family and household when her husband was at service. Her major contribution concerned the notorious comment about the women’s role in the new governmental system, implying a plea for respect and overall change.
