Adolescents face several challenges when it comes to controlling pregnancies because they are often vulnerable to abuse and mistreatment. For instance, girls are likely to be abused because they have little understanding of the stages of growth and development. On the other hand, boys might fail to control themselves, leading to serious problems, such as rape, which is one of the major causes of teenage pregnancies.
In the program, the logical model will have several sections, each with a specific role to play. The logical model will perhaps constitute inputs, outputs, short-term goals, medium-term goals, and long-term plans and objectives. Regarding the inputs, the project coordinators will ensure that qualified personnel is deployed to help both girls and boys in coping with the adolescent challenges that make them vulnerable to teenage pregnancies.
For this to be successful, the local authorities will be contacted mainly to request funding. Additionally, the program will need relevant reading materials, such as books and journals to supplement the knowledge gained in class. On the side of outputs, the most susceptible groups would be identified before coming up with specialized strategies to help them get out of the problems. A curriculum will be designed for both boys and girls to enable them to understand the dynamics of the modern society as far as adolescence stage is concerned.
Short-term goals include enhancing knowledge on teenage pregnancies and educating the vulnerable groups on the dangers of early pregnancies. When teenagers will be in a position to follow instructions on pregnancy prevention, the project will have attained its medium-term goals. Several pregnancy prevention strategies exist, but few girls are able to use them, forcing the majority to be mothers at a very tender age.
The project will insist on abstinence, but other options will be availed as well because it might be a big challenge for any teenager to keep off from sexual behaviors. In this case, the use of family planning methods would be recommended. It will be clarified that not all family planning techniques are viable for teenagers because some of them have lasting side effects. Once a teenager realizes that she is pregnant, the only thing she would do is to think of procuring an abortion, which is expensive and very dangerous.
The medium-term goal of the program would be to reduce the cases of abortion and the associated effects. Through the medium-term goals, teenagers would probably realize their long-term goals. For instance, they should be able to go through the adolescent stage peacefully and attain adulthood stage without any challenge. Research shows that many teenagers have been forced to drop their ambitions through early pregnancies. Once the program realizes this objective, it will have attained the long-term goals.
