When seeking inspiration, a person may find something unique, aesthetically pleasing, and marvelous in the most unexpected places. In the Biblical context, the premise of creativity is perceived through the lens of God’s creation: “God’s relationship to the world is analogous to an artist’s relationship to her art; the natural world reveals the mind of God” (Buchak & Zimmenrman, 2022. p. 121). Hence, the majority of unique aspects of one’s homeland reflect God’s creativity. As far as Colorado Springs is concerned, there are three most important wonders of nature that personally connect me to the reflections on God and spirituality in general.
They include the Garden of Gods, Pikes Peak, and the Cave of the Winds. The first one is a sandstone rock formation that impresses people with its mightiness and power. Pikes Peak Mountain, with a height of nearly 14 thousand feet, is one of the highest peaks in the state. The common feature that unites these unique aspects is their magnitude and fascination. It is the magnitude that reminds a person of the mightiness of Earth’s creation since God is capable of breathing life into something large and incomprehensible to a human. It is mentioned in Isaiah 54:10 that “Though the mountains are shaken, and the hills are removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed” (Holy Bible, New Living Translation, 1996/2015). Hence, the physical surroundings of one’s land serve as a reminder that one’s life is given to a person for reasons that go beyond the magnitude of a mountain and the power of an ocean’s wave.
When people pay attention to every little detail around them, they become fascinated by the complexity of the world created in a seemingly short time. Hence, the creativity of God manifested in the color patterns of unique birds and the fascinating mountain landscapes breathe creativity into people. The beauty and power of nature, the smallest detail people notice every day, helps them construct a picture of something beautiful, something more meaningful than their sole existence.
