Art is the expression of emotion or ideas through creative work. This could be in the form of painting, sculpture, music, film, or any other creative medium. Art can definitely be both dancing and singing, and indeed many people believe that dance and song are completely intertwined forms of expression (Chiang et al. 132). For example, think of musical theater; the dancers and singers work together to tell a story through their movements and voices. Likewise, consider traditional indigenous dances, which often incorporate songs as part of the performance. Therefore, art is a means of expression, communication, and understanding (Conroy 17). Art often has an emotional element to it, evoking feelings in the viewer or listener. Additionally, art can be created for a variety of purposes, including pleasure, culture promotion, and educational purposes. The video in the link comprises different individuals from all over the world expressing their emotions. Yes, this is art because it involves music and dance, which expresses talent, cultural elements, and emotional status.
The various dancing styles featured in the video are each intricate and require precision and coordination. The dancers in the video put their own spin on moves, making the routine visually stimulating and entertaining to watch. The video showcases a range of talents, from acrobatic moves to synchronization between dancers. It takes a great practice of skill to execute these dances flawlessly, especially at 00:01:34; the man in a striped t-shirt is showcasing his great skills and talent. Arts first start as an imagination then it takes another person’s effort to actualize it. Therefore, the organized dancing style must have been someone’s creativity or idea, thus making dancing more of an art.
Additionally, the realistic and stylized dancing portrayed in the video qualifies it to be an art. There are a few reasons why stylized and realistic dancing is considered an art in this video. One reason is that it takes a lot of skill and precision to make the movements look realistic or stylized (Conroy 13). For the dancers in the video to dance together, they must have practiced it before performing. For instance, at 00:02:20, even though the dancing is not uniform but they are dancing in the same style, meaning that someone creatively came up and taught the dancing style.
The piece presented in the video is an art because it communicates, and the viewers can understand what is happening. The video composes of a compilation of dances from different parts of the globe, and different races join the dance with smiles and jumps. This communicates joy in their hearts even though they do not explain the reason for dancing, but many viewers can connect that the video portrays happiness. Dance can be interpreted in many ways, and each interpretation is unique to the person who is watching it. The role of arts is to entertain and to provide a space for people to come together and share in the experience. In terms of culture promotion, the background song for the clip is done in a specific ethnic language. Arts are normally associated with a specific culture and are normally symbolizing a given element within that culture. Additionally, singing is an art because it is a form of communication that can express emotions and ideas in a creative way.
In conclusion, the presented clip is an art because it encompasses singing and dancing elements. The arts have educative, expressional, communication, pleasure, and cultural promotion roles. The dance composes of Africans, Indians, and Whites; this communicates that happiness is attained through unity regardless of ethnicity.
