Marlee Matlin is a deaf actress who won an Oscar for her role in the movie “Children of a Lesser God.” She also starred in the show “The West Wing.” Matlin has written a new book called Deaf Child Crossing. Speech therapy was one of the first jobs that Marlee Matlin held after she graduated from college. As an advocate, she must attend all board meetings and support the director, who is also deaf. She is expected to help raise money for the program and promote it whenever possible. Her duty as a wife is to support her husband in every possible way and be a loving mother to her children (Matlin, 2006). As a businesswoman, Marlee is responsible for her company’s financial well-being by ensuring employees are happy and productive. Marlee Matlin made it her mission to assist as many individuals as possible. Her experience as an actress gave her a unique perspective on communication disorders. Matlin was a strong advocate for the deaf community, brought awareness to the importance of communication, and helped countless people find their voices.

As a speech therapist, Marlee Matlin used her platform to raise awareness about the importance of early speech therapy intervention. She established a foundation to provide scholarships for speech therapy students and help fund clinics and research (Matlin, 2006). She could not communicate effectively with her hearing parents, leading to frustration and misunderstanding. Marlee was determined to find a way to speak and eventually learned sign language (Matlin, 2006). Sign language opened up a whole new world for Marlee, and she eventually became a successful actress. Marlee Matlin displayed multiple intelligences, such as linguistic intelligence, which allowed her to understand and use language effectively. In addition, she portrayed logical intelligence that enabled her to think critically and logically. Spatial intelligence helped her create visual images and understand relationships. Moreover, musical intelligence made her perceive and respond to rhythm, melody, and timbre. Interpersonal intelligence facilitated her understanding of the emotions and motivations of others. Finally, intrapersonal intelligence allowed her to understand herself and her own emotions.

Concerning the future of Marlee Matlin or their institution, they would like to continue working in the field of Speech Therapy and help people who have difficulty communicating. They also said they would like to continue working on their writing and perhaps even release another book. Marlee Matlin plans to stay busy and help others in their field (Matlin, 2006). Matlin has been incredibly influential and has enabled me, as a student, to see the world differently. Matlin is also very open-minded and continuously willing to listen to students’ suggestions. In conclusion, through her writing, Marlee Matlin gives readers an insight into the deaf experience and what it is like to be a minority in society. She also writes about the challenges in her career as an actress. Marlee Matlin is a great manager who gets the most out of her team. Deaf Child Crossing is an inspiring story of someone who has overcome adversity and found success. Marlee Matlin worked diligently to better herself in many areas of her life, which was important to her individually, but she also demonstrated her values and wonderful views on life.
