The case of the newly hired employee, who faces discrimination against women and immigrants, is a subject to the violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Anti-immigration discussions are objectively offensive to this Lebanese Christian employee since they are associated with inappropriate treatment and behaviors. In addition, the so-called “men talk” should not be tolerated by management, while the gag order that was set by the HR manager is not a good decision. Education about discrimination and encouragement of employees to avoid it are two main strategies that help in reducing negative behaviors. HR managers should react to all cases of discrimination to show the staff that mutual respect to differences is important for the creation of enjoyable workplace and productive work. Thus, the key goal of the HR manager is to be sensitive to any complaints of discrimination and respond to them immediately.
