Human development refers to individuals’ social, psychological, physical, and cognitive development throughout their lifespan, from prenatal development to late adulthood. Physical development includes growth in motor skills, brain, body, health, and sense (Cooper & Harlow, 2018). Psychological growth involves social relationships and emotions, while cognitive development encompasses creativity, learning, reasoning, attention, thinking, and memory. Humans move through the different types of developmental changes caused by genetics and environmental influences.
Physical development involves the growth and advancement of motor skills and using body parts to do particular activities. However, people fail to realize that physical development includes brain development, changes in senses, puberty, fertility, sexual health, and menopause (Cooper & Harlow, 2018). Brain development enables greater motor coordination in children and adulthood emotions and planning coordination. Late physical maturation in adolescents may lead to psychological difficulties since the rate of physical changes affects how others view people (Feldman, 2018). One peer discussed social development, which is concerned with improving individuals’ well-being to attain their full potential. The growth in children enables them to learn how to interact with people around them and acquire skills to communicate with them and evaluate their actions. The developmental area is essential as it builds self-esteem, strengthens learning abilities, and resolves conflicts.
To conclude, humans undergo development in various areas like psychological, physical, social, and cognitive from childhood to adulthood. Physical development includes growth in motor skills and brain, body, sense, and health development. Physical development, particularly in the brain, has great significance to human development. It ensures childhood motor coordination skills, and in adults, coordination of emotions and activity planning. On the other hand, social development has many benefits, like boosting one’s self-esteem and strengthening learning skills. Additionally, environmental experiences and hereditary factors impact human development.
