A review of the first chapter of the book indicates that every individual keeps at least an animal in petite area of grass on the rooftop of their houses. Rick ascended to the roof of his house keep an eye on his electrical sheep. Caring for the animals has developed into some kind of culture in the society and each and every person is expected to do that. This phenomenon becomes quite unique when imagined.
