The data show that the closing price of the index dropped during the period. On the 8th, the value of the index was $16,027.05 (“DowJonesClose.com – Dow Jones Industrial Average Closing Prices 2015/2016” 1). The value dropped by 0.0791% on the 9th. The value further dropped by 0.6643% and 1.5578% on 10th and 11th respectively (McLaney and Atrill 102). The data in the table above shows that there was a downward trend in the value of the Dow Jones index for 4 days. Since the index gives information on how the stock market performs, then the drop shows that the trading on the stock market was unfavorable (Brigham and Ehrhardt 237).

Between date 12th and 17th, the closing price of the index rose. The price rose from $15,660.18 to $15,973.84 on 12th. The increase is equivalent to 2.0029%. On 16th, the closing price of the index rose to 1.3933%. On the 18th, the closing price of the index was 1.5894%. Thus, during these three days, trading on the stock market was favorable. It indicates that investors gained during the three days. On the 18th, the index was down by 0.2455%. The value dropped further to $16,391.99 on the 19th. The drop shows that the two days of trading were unfavorable. The graphs presented below give a representation of the movement of closing prices for the Dow Jones Index.
