Introduction
The students at various institutions of higher learning have in the past resorted to weird ways of addressing their grievances, especially when they believe that the administration is ignoring them. This website seeks to create a forum where students from various institutions of learning can air out their grievances to the relevant authorities without resorting to violent demonstrations. The website will allow registered members to share their views and interact with their peers in order to enhance the learning environment. The website will also allow schools’ managements to address issues raised by the students in a consultative platform in order to avert possible cases of strikes in their institutions.
Goal Definition
The main goal of this website is to offer students an alternative way of expressing their concerns to the relevant authorities without strikes and violent demonstrations. Through this website, any student has the capacity to communicate with fellow students and schools administrations in an interactive forum.
Requirements
Based on the goals defined above and the type of audience targeted, the main content of this website will be a discussion of issues affecting students and how the learning environment can be improved through a concerted effort of all stakeholders. The design to be used will be simple and will involve the use of graphics to attract the attention of the audience. Programs such as Java will be used in its development. Although the website user will not be subjected to restriction on issues such as bandwidth and screen size, there will be a restriction on browser type. The users will also be restricted to the type of message they can share. Any form of incitement will not be tolerated at the website. This means that there will be a regular review of the posts made by the users.
Site Plan
This website will be managed by a team of experts that will ensure it is up and running within the next two months. The current database limits the number of users to 40,000. However, the database will be expanded after the third month of being in operation. This duration will be enough to determine the demand. When it is established that the demand is very high, the capacity will be increased to about one million subscribers, with a limitless number of visitors. The targeted audience will be students, teachers and school administrators at various institutions of higher learning within this city. The active users will be able to download or upload authorized materials into their account where other users can have access. The site will support.doc, jpg, jpeg, mp3, and mp4 files.
Design Prototype
At this stage, emphasis will be laid on the three stages, which include Block Comps, Screen and Paper Comps, and the Mock Site. The developer will ensure that the structure is properly linked to the type in order to meet the expectation of the users. Below is a sketch of the initial parts of the website.
It will be necessary to use multimedia at this website, such as audio, video, and animation in order to enhance the clarity of the information.
Site Implementation Plan and Testing
After developing a workable mock site, the final stage will be to develop a Beta Site which incorporates the actual content and visual designs. The site with then is tested for functionality, content proofing, and browser compatibility before it can finally be released.
