I have never studied Human Resources Manager, but I always, subconsciously knew how to deal with people and treat them the best possible way. I traveled a lot and worked in different countries, so I can say that it was unique experience which helped to understand meaning of my life and clarify my career goals. I suppose that two main accomplishments in my work and personal experiences are effective communication and contacts with other people and ability to support and understand needs and expectations of others.

I came to many countries alone without friends and family members but easily find friends and made contacts with people. Working in Canada and Austria, I understood that effective communication and contacts with other people are the essential part of life. My accomplishment was that I understood that our explanations would never be perfect because our subjective realities were different. With respect to human nature, the perspective assumes that our communication is influenced by our culture and group memberships, as well as structural, situational, and environmental factors. Communicating effectively and adapting our behavior in different situations requires that we be aware of our interpretations of our own and others’ messages. Working as a travel agent, I understood that one important factor in our ability to be effective and adapt our behavior when communicating with strangers is our motivation. If we want to avoid interacting with members of other groups and do not approach them, we will not be able to communicate with those with whom we do come in contact.
Ability to support and understand needs and expectations of other people helped me to establish close and trustworthy relations with colleagues and customers. When we reduce uncertainty about others and ourselves, understanding is possible. Understanding involves obtaining information, knowing, comprehending, and interpreting. We make predictions and create explanations all of the time when we communicate. We rarely describe others’ behavior, however. When we communicate with others we typically decode messages by attaching meaning to or interpreting them. We do not stop to describe what we saw or heard before we interpret it. Rather, we interpret messages as we decode them. The problem is that we base our interpretations on our life experiences, culture, or ethnic group memberships. Since our life experiences differ from other people’s, our interpretations of their behavior may be incorrect.
This often leads to misunderstandings. A person can easily overcome communication or cultural barrier of he/she foreshadows and understands expectations of his customers. When communicating with others, we usually interpret others’ messages based on our own frame of reference. In the vast majority of encounters with other members of our culture and/or ethnic group, this is not highly problematic. In encounters with others with whom we have intimate relationships and in intergroup encounters, however, using our frame of reference to interpret others’ behavior can lead to misunderstanding and miscommunication. I came to conclusion that needs, separately and in combination, influences how we want to present ourselves to others, the intentions we form, and the habits or scripts we follow. My personal and working experience taught me that an effective leader and manager should take into account values and beliefs of other people combined with his own views and world visions. In this case, communication will be supportive, effective and productive. A person should be able to project what will happen in a particular situation, and explanation involves stating why something occurred.
