Linking Rewards and Appreciation to Standards of Excellence
The United States Navy is a highly organized and structured organization that strives to maintain a culture of excellence. The Navy understands the importance of rewarding and appreciating its members for their hard work and dedication. Rewards and appreciation are linked to the standards of excellence by creating a sense of recognition and accomplishment. Members of the Navy who demonstrate a commitment to upholding the standards of excellence are rewarded with promotions, awards, and recognition.
Clarity and Communication of Standards
The standards of excellence for the Navy are clear and communicated through various methods. Navy members receive training and instruction on the standards of excellence. There are also a variety of publications and resources available for members to refer to when needing guidance on upholding the standards (US Navy, n.d.). Additionally, members are expected to hold each other accountable and provide feedback when needed.
Visible and Engaged Leadership
Leadership in the Navy is defined by walking around and listening to the members. Leaders provide examples and expectations by leading by example. In addition to walking around and listening to members, leaders create an environment of support and trust. Leaders are expected to guide and support members to help them achieve their goals and objectives.
Defining and Demonstrating Support in the Organization
Support in the Navy takes on many forms. Support can be provided through mentorship, counseling, and guidance. Leaders are expected to provide support to members to help them succeed. Additionally, members are encouraged to create a support network to share experiences, give advice, and provide encouragement.
Improving Organizational Dynamics: Recommendations and Strategies
To improve the Navy’s organizational dynamics, I recommend that leadership focus on creating an environment of trust. Leaders should create an environment where members feel that their opinions are respected and their contributions are valued. Additionally, leaders should communicate clearly and consistently regarding expectations and standards of excellence. Finally, leaders should focus on supporting and recognizing members to foster a sense of accomplishment and motivation.
