Introduction
Technological progress is an integral part of the development of modern society. Devices of various kinds make life easier and empower human beings. New techno giants on the market are eager to produce massive but high-quality products. Today, the need for remote work is not unique in the modern world. Many people should work from home for various reasons, such as illness, mobility restrictions, household activities, or an epidemic of the virus. One technology that significantly simplifies a person’s life is voice recognition, and its introduction into familiar subjects such as a chair can improve people skills, including multitasking.
Peculiarities of Working from Home
Today, working from home is no longer a new and unfamiliar occupation. The coronavirus epidemic pointed to the advantages and disadvantages of such work and allowed people to improve the field. New communication services such as Zoom have been developed or improved. Companies and organizations have tried to adapt to new realities and communicate with their staff through video conferencing and e-mail correspondence. However, this kind of communication did not take some advantages of finding a person at home. The employee had to sit constantly on the chair in front of the computer screen. Thanks to Voice recognition, an employee cannot only reduce the negative effects of work at home but get certain benefits.
Voice Recognition Technology
Before defining how the voice recognition technology built into the chair will avoid the disadvantages of working from home, it is essential to highlight some features of its work. According to Parsons (2017), “speech recognition (or voice recognition) refers to the ability of a machine to understand spoken words” (p. 36). The voice recognition technology will better recognize the person’s voice if there is no noise around like at home. It is worth noting that this technology uses a Deep Neural Network (DNN) to convert the acoustic pattern of your voice at each instant into a probability distribution over speech sounds (Parsons, 2017). Therefore, the text is accurate with pronounced phrases of the worker.
Concept of Chair with Voice Recognition
Since the chair is a voluminous object with many elements, a robust communication system can be built into it to provide the chair interface connectivity with other devices in the house. Using the upholstery of the chair, it will be possible to implement a variety of sensors that will monitor the indoor air temperature, humidity level, and others. At the request of the employee, voice recognition technology will voice data from these indicators (Sen et al., 2019). Noteworthy that it can memorize some features of the human voice and learn to be better (Suma et al., 2022). According to He and Deng (2022), “speech is highly variable signal, characterized by many factors, and it is critical in modeling it well enough for automated systems to achieve proficiency” (p. 3)
How Voice Recognition Technology Can Help Working From Home
The Voice recognition technology built into the chair can convert a person’s speech into text. It can help with writing emails or important texts. The employee may be engaged in other business, as his hands will be free from typing on the keyboard. The sensors described in the previous slide will be essential for maintaining the right conditions in the room, which will positively affect human health (Goyal et al., 2021). Voice recognition will constantly notify in the case of deviations from the norm. This technology will allow one to manage what is now called a smart home (Suma et al., 2022). For example, if an employee is busy and cannot leave the workplace but has a boiling kettle, he can use voice recognition and remotely turn it off. Given that the technology will be hidden in the chair, it will also not take up space on the desktop.
How Voice Recognition Technology Can Reduce Disadvantage from Working from Home
The most significant drawback of remote work from home is the absence of a sufficient level of communication with colleagues and superiors. Many organizations are concerned that this factor reduces staff productivity and efficiency and loses contact with the team, which is essential to a successful company. Voice recognition technology built into the chair will help reduce the negative effect of this factor (Goyal et al., 2021). With the development of appropriate software, employees will be able to exchange short messages with each other, increasing their efficiency and adding interactivity to the workflow (Romero-Fresco, 2020). A person working at home may not be able to go, for example, grocery shopping. Using voice recognition, one can order it without wasting time.
Advantage of Connectivity with Other Devices
Modern technology companies not only produce a large volume of products but also make them diverse. It is known that today is valued not so much the product itself but the connection of several technologies among themselves (Furui, 2018). As Machado and Davim (2022) state, “device voice control is the greatest driver of voice recognition” (p. 70). When different types of devices interact, such as phones, headphones, watches, and laptops, their capabilities grow exponentially (Suma et al., 2022). Devices can be shared by more than one employee at a time and managed by voice recognition in the chair of each employee. It will significantly increase a person’s productivity and make his work more comfortable.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it will be essential to note the usefulness of voice recognition technology for the workflow. Using this technology when working from home, an employee can gain several advantages, such as fast communication with colleagues, increased multitasking, remote control of various equipment, and others. Because it is built into the chair, it will be easy to operate, and it will not take up space in the workplace. By using voice recognition, a person can reduce the harmful effects of events such as a global virus pandemic or his personal problems.
