On the other hand, the worker can continue attending the group sessions under the value of social justice.

In this case, the social worker must put the welfare of his clients ahead of his professional obligations based on the information at hand and the ethical standards outlined in the NASW Code of Ethics. Although the worker has the right to attend the support group and have his child study at the mentioned school, his presence at the meetings reaches far beyond solely jeopardizing client confidentiality and professional limits. It also endangers the integrity of the support group, the school’s organizational performance, and the well-being of other families attending the meetings. The social worker should discuss the issue with his supervisor or organization to find a solution that would allow him to assist his child’s education in another way. To uphold the principles of service and competence, I believe the caseworker should consider leaving the support group.

Thus, the social worker’s moral problem in this case study illustrates the nuanced link between individual values, professional obligations, and the welfare of those seeking assistance. The NASW Code of Ethics’ key principles of competence, confidentiality, honesty, and the significance of interpersonal connections must be carefully balanced to solve this problem. People safeguard the welfare of those they serve and defend the dignity and value of every individual when they acknowledge the critical necessity of ethics.
