Relevance of the Course to Nursing Practice
The general relevance of the course to nursing practice is high. Discussing evidence-based practices was helpful from the perspective of the future appliance of some of the learned concepts in professional development as a nurse. The theoretical knowledge allowed me to expand my understanding of nursing practices. The analysis of practical cases, such as diabetes-related evidence-based practice projects focused on posing the PICOT question, provides a profound basis for working as a nurse to improve the diagnosis process. The course contributed to the understanding of how scientific research in the sphere of medicine should be held.
Two EBP Concepts from Research
Exploring the EBP contributed to developing an in-depth understanding of how the clinical questions are identified, analyzed, supported by the evidence, and assessed. One of the most vital concepts which seemed critical was a meta-analysis (Why is evidence-based practice in nursing so important, 2022). This concept can be compared with the literature review but with a quantitative assessment of the results of the studies. This approach allows you to compare different studies, analyze the effectiveness and safety of the drug in different situations and draw conclusions. The second concept which can be practically applied in future practice is building evidence-based arguments. Such types of evidence, such as randomized controlled trials, case-control analysis, and patient reports, can be helpful in making data-driven decisions related to increasing the quality of healthcare (Why is evidence-based practice in nursing so important, 2022). For example, the nurses can include the patients’ voices in the treatment process. From my perspective, this practice should be used by nurses. I plan to implement it, making data-driven decisions well-supported by the research.
