What are the qualities of a good leader? This question can be answered in a number of ways depending on the person being asked and the organisation in context. Despite researchers disagreeing on the crucial qualities of a good leader, they agree on a number of traits. This underlines the reason why there are numerous leadership programs that are geared towards equipping rising leaders with these traits. This paper intends to outline some of the reasons for applying for future leadership program and how the program can help in personal and career growth. In addition, the paper will outline the goals for the next three years and how they are related to Qatar’s national vision.
One of the reasons for applying for this program is to help one to develop risk-taking skills. The program equips an individual with skills to go an extra mile and come up with novel products, which help an organisation to dominate and expand an existing market. A leader ought to scheme a high-level plan, which brings all the stakeholders on board. Enrolling on a leadership program would help one to acquire organisational skills, thus being able to mobilise staff towards a unified goal. Leaders have to enjoy a number of clearly-defined fervor and skills to convert their dream into an actuality. The program will help one to build personal and social constructs that are vital in enhancing organisational growth.
One of my goals for the next three years is to assist organisations to attain comprehensive development. Comprehensive development entails making sure that an organisation achieve its goals in a manner that does not interfere with people’s aspirations. My goal is to help organisations understand their future and identify critical choices that are in their disposal. This will help the organisations to devise developmental goals that are in line with their future. One of the Qatar’s visions is to achieve comprehensive development. Presently, the country is enjoying unmatched economic growth (Al-Thani 1). This is forcing the country to think of introducing social and political changes that are in line with the current growth. The country seeks to come up with a development policy that will not affect its social fabric.
Environmental management is a critical corporate social responsibility of every organisation. The current level of global warming calls for concerted effort by all organisations. My future goal is to come up with strategies to help organisations achieve their developmental objectives without increasing the rate of environmental pollution. “The present economic growth in Qatar has made it hard for the country to balance economic growth with environmental management” (Al-Thani 2). Establishing modalities to control environmental pollution would go a long way towards helping Qatar to maintain its present level of economic growth.
Achieving organisational goals is met with a number of challenges. One of the challenges that I have ever faced is bringing employees together to work towards organisational goal. To overcome the challenge, I had to empower the employees to come up with decisions on matters affecting their areas of specialisation. This encouraged creativity and cooperation. Another challenge that I have ever faced is being unable to convince my bosses that young people have the capacity to come up with innovative ideas to facilitate organisational growth. To overcome this, I had to go through a rigorous training and later applied what I had learnt in dealing with issues that arose within the organisation.
