Mangan, John, Chandra Lalwani, and Agustina Calatayud. Global logistics and supply chain management. Vol. 4, John Wiley & Sons, 2020.
In this book, the authors provide readers with a detailed outlook on both the theoretical and practical aspects of the supply chain. In the new edition, the authors have expanded the analysis of the main concepts, strategies, and methodologies of the subject matter. In addition, one provided a comprehensive analysis of inventory management, supply chain design, and transport safety aspects. Finally, the authors identified the potential challenges for globalization and international trade and their interaction mechanism. The book demonstrates how materials, products, information, and services interact with the private and public sectors and the world from the supply chain perspective. It will help support achieving the purpose of my paper to analyze the concepts of supply chain and reverse logistics in detail. The approach of authors using case studies from around the world, such as pharmaceutical supply chains, clearly demonstrates LSCM theories and methodologies in the context of strategic aspects.
Forkan, Mohammad, Mustafa Rizvi, Chowdhury, M. “Multiobjective reverse logistics model for inventory management with environmental impacts: An application in industry.”Intelligent Systems with Applications, 2022.
In this paper, the authors demonstrate the development of a proposal for new mathematical models of reverse logistics in the aspect of inventory management. The already existing model was taken as a basis, however, the researchers managed to expand and refine it significantly. New approaches and development strategies were used, which changed the very principle of interaction between the model and the outside world. However, the background principle of operation of reverse logistics and inventory management in the mathematical aspect was used as a basis.
Thus, the previous model assumed that the requirement for a newly produced unit and a refurbished product is not the same. Due to the mathematical models displayed in work, one has the ability to optimize the cost holding. Further, unconstrained and constrained optimization problems were derived in the paper, which made it possible to develop a multifunctional solution. In addition, procedures were proposed for the implementation of solutions to the problems raised in work. The accuracy of these solutions was tested and confirmed by numerical experiments, which were also carried out in the study. The optimal values were based on the Pareto solution, and thus a three-objective mathematical model was developed to achieve the above goals.
Patyk, Marta. “The use of information systems to support the management of reverse logistics processes.”Procedia Computer Science, 2021, pp. 2586-2595.
This article, like the previous ones, helps me achieve the goals of my research in a deep analysis of the supply chain and reverse logistics concept. In addition, the purpose of my work is to demonstrate their interaction and show that reverse logistics plays a vital role in generating profits. In this paper, the authors analyze the use of IT systems to support the management of reverse logistics processes. That is, it will help to study in detail another side of reverse logistics, namely the IT aspect, which will contribute to a deeper disclosure of the term. Thus, the purpose of the work is to analyze the potential challenges associated with the use and development of IT systems in the aspect of the subject matter. In addition, the authors established the current degree of use of IT systems in reverse logistics today.
Besides, the article aims to identify possible benefits and barriers to implementing IT systems in reverse logistics processes. The authors used the strategies of surveys and literary reviews to achieve the goals. Due to the information collected from 327 Polish companies and the analysis of statistical data, I have the opportunity to study the concept of reverse logistics carefully. In addition, it will help me to identify the interaction between the supply chain and IT technologies.
Mediavilla, Mario, Fabian Dietrich, Daniel Palmac. “Review and analysis of artificial intelligence methods for demand forecasting in supply chain management.”Procedia CIRP, 107, 2022, pp. 1126-1131.
In this paper, the authors analyzed the existing methods for using artificial intelligence to forecast demand. It is formulated by increased risks of unforeseen events in forecasting. In addition, demand forecasting is accompanied by a large amount of dynamic data, which is challenging to consider. Besides, the authors analyze the concept of demand forecasting and the supply chain in detail. Thus, considering the above aspects helps me in the study by providing valuable information.
Santos, Simone, and Oladele Ogunseitan. “E-waste management in Brazil: Challenges and opportunities of a reverse logistics model.”Environmental Technology & Innovation, 28, 2022.
In this article, the authors analyzed how reverse logistics can be applied in the context of correcting the situation related to electronic waste in Brazil. It is justified by the significant amount of waste in this country, which formulates the need to develop strategies to solve this problem. The authors have provided possible barriers to the implementation of the developed strategies, namely the lack of awareness, resources, and studies related to the case. In addition, the article analyzed possible ways to overcome these barriers. The work will support my research by providing detailed information related to reverse logistics.
