Every animal has a unique and distinctive personality, which must be considered to build a healthy relationship with a pet. My puppy’s name is Martini, and she is still young but already has unique personality traits. Although the process of raising a puppy can change her character and behavior, I am so used to her that I cannot imagine her differently. Moreover, I do not want to consider her features as any disadvantages.
Martini is very affectionate and gentle with those she knows. She is very active and playful, which is a significant advantage. Some animals dislike frequent touching, but Martini also understands this love language. Her disadvantages are the flip side of its advantages, which better be called a feature. The high amount of energy means that the puppy requires much attention. The large amount of energy that hides in Martini often turns into ruined furniture, which can be called its disadvantage.
Moreover, Martini is friendly only to those whose scent she has remembered, but to strangers or people, she is terrified. It is a problem, making it very difficult to take friends to the house or introduce Martini to other dogs during walks. A dog’s socialization, that is, her ability to interact with other animals, is essential to her mental development (Lenkei, 2019). Nevertheless, it remains to be hoped that as Martini gets older, she will learn to communicate with other animals.
Finally, an essential advantage of Martini is that she has never shown a fear of loud noises. Other puppy owners often complain that dogs are afraid of the sound of fireworks, loud banging, or music. Owners of such dogs have to argue with neighbors, take their pets away during the holidays, or constantly calm their dogs. Martini does not respond to loud noises, which raised concerns about her hearing, but the vet strongly rejected that hypothesis. Nevertheless, this is a big plus for a very young dog who is usually very reactive to sounds.
Thus, Martini has several unique qualities that are unique to her. Every aspect of her behavior can be an advantage or a disadvantage, depending on what the owner expects from the dog. Nevertheless, I love my puppy very much, in part because of her uniqueness. People, after all, like dogs, have both positive and negative aspects, but they still deserve love.
