‘Mens sana in corpore cano’ is a well-known Latin proverb, which, according to Webster Dictionary, is translated like: ‘Sound mind in sound body’. Only recently the scientists have researched the link between body and mind. Actually, the thing is that as strong your health is, as much success your brain “brings” you (Brailer, 2006). The students of our department have already got acquainted with the above mentioned research, that is why they try both: to study well and to promote the healthy way of life. Today, the Creig College campus health office is seeking for developing the programs to meet the diverse needs of our students.

We would like to introduce you our health community. First of all, our campus is situated outside the town, that is why the place we live is not very polluted. We have 6, 000 residents, including the community outside the campus. What should the student have to be healthy and feel good? The answer is: the leisure time. Thus, everything that is needed for a student is situated here: Movie Theater, a few restaurants, a shopping mall, two taverns and a roller-rink. If one shopping mall is not enough, the students have the opportunity to go to the nearest city in twenty miles. The city is not overwhelmed with transport. The bus system connects the college to major air, rail and the Atlantus commuter systems. It also provides access to the major area shopping malls. Everyone has a possibility to raid the bicycle or simply have a sun in the fresh air (Health Insurance, 2010)

We would like to point out on the obvious connection between the mind and healthy body of or students, as 75% of them have the scholarship. Our students know how they are willing to live in the future. They use many opportunities for part-time work throughout the college community. No one gets tired, when he has an opportunity to swim after the studying and work. The college is located on 100 acres overlooking a lake. The lakeshore is accessible by nature trails, and the beach area, which has an identified swimming area, is often used for picnics and rallies (Reid, 2003).

The major advantage of our campus is that students themselves form a soul of the whole college. Thus, a student center building has lounges, meeting rooms, food vendors, and offices for the campus newspaper, radio station and student governance, however students are those, who control the process. For example, student governance is very independent, and neither professors, nor dean can interfere. The same happens to the actions, which are devoted to the health issues. Students search for the budged, equipment and invite people by their own. There is no need to explain the necessity of the healthy way of life or sport. It has been already formed the community, where alcohol, drugs and cigarettes are not popular. If the new student wants to be respected, he will follow this type of thinking. Health issues are strictly controlled. The college health service is centrally located in the middle of the campus. It is staffed by a part-time physician, two mental health counselors and two nurse practitioners for weekly coverage. Few types per year voluntary talks are carried out among the students.

Nothing would be done if it had not been for the relationships inside the community. The administration and faculty involve students in planning and implementation of programs and activities at our college. As the territory of the campus is small, the hospital serving the area is familiar with the Creig student population, that is why if the doctor is needed, he would quickly find the right person.

To sum up, giving children to study in Creig college, the parents would be always sure about safety and development of their children, as Creig college is the place, where students take care about both: their mind and body.
