The process of variables measurement in the context of the current research will involve analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data. Specifically, the phenomenon of perception of people belonging to the LGBT community can be measured by considering the instances of positive versus negative interactions. In turn, the latter should be seen as scenarios that involve discrimination or cases of aggression being displayed toward LGBT people. By calculating and comparing the number of positive versus negative occurrences in the interactions between LGBT employees and the rest of the staff before and after the introduction of the relevant interventions, one will be able to measure the quantitative changes effectively.
In turn, in order to examine the nature of the observed change and determine the strategies for reducing discriminatory attitudes, one will need to consider the qualitative approach involving the identification of the core characteristics of these interactions. Specifically, the variable will be assessed based on the changes in the quality of interactions between staff members, involving the judgment of LGBT members by others and the use of implicit bias in the attitudes toward them.
Specifically, the presence of discriminatory choices, behaviors, and actions such as the refusal to collaborate with LGBT participants, the adverse changes in the relationship dynamics, and the overall development of hostility will be considered in the course of the study. For this purpose, the use of interview and surveys will be deployed as the means of examining the complexity of sociocultural underpinning of the observed change. It is believed the disclosure of the LGBT status of the participants will entail negative alterations in the relationship dynamics given the recent increase in hostility toward the LGBT population, in general (Medina-Martínez et al., 2021). Since the study will require the mixed research method and involve a cross-cultural analysis of the issue, the correlational research design will be most appropriate.
