Introduction
The structure of the organization is an important factor to consider while organizing a hospital since it influences how effective treatment is delivered. Although they traditionally used a disease-oriented strategy, several hospitals have recently started to employ a patient-centered approach. If I were the CEO of a hospital, I would personally design the organization with the patient at the center. Promoting the well-being and health of the people while respecting their autonomy is the central aim and the main standard of quality in any healthcare organization.
Discussion
The patient-centered approach means defining patient care as a core aim of the healthcare system. According to studies, the patient-centered strategy is significantly more efficient than conventional approaches (Fiorio et al., 2018, p. 7). On the basis of grouping, departmentalization takes place with a focus on patient needs. For example, if a patient is hospitalized after an accident, a range of medical care may be useful. The patient must have surgery, the nurse must provide injections, and the psychologist must assist with PTSD. At that point, the departments of surgery, patient care, and patient psychological help start operating. This system places a lot more emphasis on the health of patients than the conventional structure, which divides departments according to the profession and the disease. In the conventional approach, patients go to the therapy department rather than the therapy department working with them. However, departments step to the rescue using a patient-centered strategy (Gabutti et al., 2017, p. 9). Departments will serve as more of a comprehensive structure to give the patient essential care and support rather than simply serve as administratively expedient groupings.
Conclusion
Therefore, the main criteria for choosing departments will be focused on combining essential healthcare services and a patient-first mentality. This includes sections for emergency needs, specialized care, specific types of therapy, mental health, and other considerations. The function of such separation is to make hospital organization smoother, enable specialists to work in the field they are most proficient at, and determine the distribution of medical equipment. This new appraisal will help change the healthcare system and improve the quality of healthcare services. As a whole, specialized care, combined with consideration for the well-being of the public can help make medical services more effective.
