Graduate Nursing Program
Focusing on the way in which the environment shapes the needs of individuals has always been my focus of interest, which is why I have chosen the role of Family Nurse Practitioner as the one that I am willing to play in the contemporary nursing setting. The specified environment opens a plethora of opportunities for introducing new and innovative approaches for managing diverse patients’ needs.
Career Goals
After receiving extensive experience in pediatric and fertility nursing, I have been willing to develop groundbreaking strategies for addressing the needs of patients in a diverse, multicultural setting. Furthermore, I want to focus on engaging an entire family in the process of handling the issues that one or more of its members are facing. The importance of support is often overlooked by many people, which impedes the process of treatment, especially when there is a significant lack of awareness about health issues in a family of a patient. Thus, I want to become the person that brings families closer during therapy processes and encourages them to support each other. The Pace University, in turn, will provide me with knowledge and experiences that will help me become a better nurse and understand patients’ needs better.
Plans
I realize that I will have to alter my professional and personal obligations once I enroll in the Pace University nursing course. For this reason, I will have to reconsider my priorities and pay special attention to time management and the process of getting my priorities straight. For instance, I must place emphasis on following ethical standards, and I believe that complying with these standards is just as important as retaining innovative thinking and applying an individual approach toward every patient.
Health Issue
As someone willing to address the issues associated with family nursing, I must admit that the specified environment requires the use of innovative approaches when it comes to patient education. Similarly, the issue of managing the needs of patients from diverse backgrounds in a multicultural community must be mentioned. Particularly, it has been proven crucial to recognize patients as important decision-makers during the provision of nursing services (Salmond & Echevarria, 2017).
The specified change to the realm of the U.S. healthcare system implies that nurses must adapt and provide patients with an opportunity to educate themselves and acquire the knowledge that will help them sustain their health outside of the environment of nursing and healthcare facilities (Salmond & Echevarria, 2017). Although the specified alteration is bound to affect the U.S. healthcare system to a considerable extent and make the rearrangement of nurses’ roles and responsibilities a necessity, it will also improve the quality and timeliness of nursing services delivery. Indeed, with the promotion of the identified change, patients will be able to recognize emergent threats to their well-being.
Conclusion
The roles of a nurse in the modern healthcare environment are numerous and often challenging. However, once a nurse starts viewing patients’ well-being as the key priority, significant improvements can be introduced to the identified environment. Thus, as a nurse, I will strive to promote patient education as one of the keys to improving patient outcomes. Moreover, I will consider using the principles of interdisciplinary collaboration as the tool for preventing the instances of mismanaging patients’ needs. Finally, introducing patients to the idea of family support as an indispensable part of a successful therapy must be deemed essential. As a result, I will be able to meet the needs of diverse communities.
