Misunderstanding occur in places or among people with no or poor communication. The misunderstanding between the nurse and Henry on the Hospice program could have been avoided if the nurse could have informed Henry of how the program works. They should have inform them that Hospice care aims at the quality of life for the caregivers and the people going through a life-limiting and advanced illness (America Cancer Society, 2019). In this scenario, the lack of proper communication between the two creates misunderstanding because Henry believes that his wife will recover from stage four cancer; therefore, she should undergo chemotherapy and eventually, he is disappointed. Joe and Henry should have discussed the meaning of the Hospice program before considering it. In addition, they should have discussed the program’s impacts, how it will cater to their life, and if they are comfortable with the program arrangement, especially during her last days.

The Hospice program should always emphasize on the inevitable, refine Medicare coverage, control the effectiveness of end life, and train more healthcare workers in palliative to better inform people of their aims. The medical field has a program that trains patients on how to cope in their last days or years; therefore, funds should be set aside to promote and employ more workers in the medical field (America Cancer Society, 2019). Moreover, the Hospice program should develop a standard that regulates the program’s quality and provide transparency and accountability. Many people facing the end of life have health insurance problems, including Medicare not giving them social support coverage; hence, they should change their policy to benefit those with severe illnesses. Finally, they should always talk to their loved ones about their patients’ death wishes and create advanced directives.
