In this flawlessly solid book, chart-topping writer John Maxwell describes how true leadership functions. It is not produced by the individual’s title. In actual fact, being promoted to a position is the lowermost of the five stages every operative leader goes through. Overview

It is essential to gather a crew that generates not only outcomes but also imminent leaders (Maxwell, 2013). By merging the information contained in this book with expertise and commitment, one can reach the highpoint of leadership where their inspiration covers outside their instantaneous range for the profit of others.

Purpose

The author’s goal is to make the reader understand the importance of going through the key stages of the leader’s development process. He also dwells on the peculiarities of each of these levels and gives extensive evidence to the person who reads concerning the importance of continuous learning and progress (Maxwell, 2013). The intended audience is both experienced and inexperienced managers that strive to reach the pinnacle of leadership.

Evaluation

The author achieved his goals by assuming that titles are not that crucial, and people are the most valuable resource of a company. The teams function as a whole only when the leaders have trust in their followers and effectively manage them. Maxwell’s knowledge in the area and his extensive experience are the foundations of this book. Most of the evidence relates to the personal value of team members and channels of communication (Maxwell, 2013).

The fact that to attain vision as a crew is worth imperiling the relationships is one of the most original author’s suggestions. This is backed by the idea that relationships that are not accompanied by vision are insufficient. On the other hand, the description of the production stage is one of the least convincing in the whole book. There is an insufficient explanation of how the leader should generate momentum and convey lucidity to the vision.

Despite the overall contents of the book, a very important part has been missed out. Very little information is given out by Maxwell on the topic of how a proficient leader should deal with the stresses and complications of managing a team and accomplishing goals (Maxwell, 2013). The book also barely touches the subject of interpersonal relations within a team. “How Successful People Lead” is rather useful as it provides a thorough interpretation of the process of developing a leadership style and encouraging others to achieve leadership roles. I believe that this particular book relates very closely to my personal and working lives.

By virtue of this book, I became the employee of the month, got a raise in salary, and learned how to improve my performance significantly. As for my personal life, I became more cognizant of how I should behave in different situations and learned how to take the lead and guide people. I believe that one should take on the journey reflected in the book and go through all of the five stages on the road to being a fluent leader.

Both personal and working environments represent us as members of a team, an organism that would only function when all of its components are set up correctly. I also think that this book complies with my culture, as the highest level of leadership presupposes, according to Maxwell, the mutual respect which is highly praised in the United Arab Emirates. This asset forms a legacy in the interior of an Arabian company.

Summary

I would rate this book 9/10 for the reason that it lacks several crucial points that should be mentioned when talking about leadership. Notwithstanding, it is a very well-composed and consistent book. I recommend this book to all the readers as it is written in a comprehensible language and provides five comparatively easy steps to leadership mastery.
