Introduction
Adolescence is one of the most difficult periods in a person’s life. During this life stage, adolescents are especially vulnerable, and in some cases, they decide to commit suicide while in a depressed state. That is why the healthcare policy I am passionate about is H.Res. 434 (2023).
H.Res.434 is concerned with the mental health of children and teens. It proposes identifying and supporting a range of programs and actions to assist young people in need of mental health services. H.Res.434, healthcare policy, with proper promotion, can help save many teenage lives, so it is important to encourage it.
Policy Advocation
I can continue to advocate for H.Res.434 policy by using an electronic signature in online voting. Additional ways nurses can advocate for change are by participating in supportive campaigns and raising awareness of initiatives. Advocacy can take place by creating anonymous help points for teenagers within local settings and training courses on recognizing symptoms of addiction to suicide within state settings.
Nurses can promote advocacy for Res. 434 healthcare legislation, or other types of healthcare legislation, during elections by posting supportive social media posts (H.Res. 434, 2023) and by understanding a candidate’s stance on health and healthcare matters, because the effectiveness and activity of promoting certain healthcare initiatives depend on it. An activist is an active member of society who organizes and promotes the initiatives they support. For example, the role of an activist nurse is to raise public awareness and support healthcare.
Conclusion
In this way, nurses can take responsibility for increasing their involvement in the management of adolescent suicidal patients. At the same time, nursing staff can act not only collectively but also individually. By making a personal choice in support of the legislative initiative H.Res. 434, nurses can help initiate important social changes. Bill’s promotion will help stop the epidemic of suicide among teenagers, because it’s not too late to help many of them.
